I haven't had many bottles of Grenache, so I'm not expert on what an aged Grenache should taste like. K and L are selling this at a bargain price. I was looking for an 05' wine to open for my anniversary as I'm sitting on many other bottles that I didn't want to open. The cork seemed to have some seepage, and was a bit shredded as it came out. The seepage into the cork was about 50 to 60% to the top, but I immediately picked up an oxidized nose. I managed to choke down about 25 of the bottle with some decanting (and prayer). The rest was poured down the drain.

Curious if anybody else picked up one of these "bargains" and got a bottle that seemed to have less then optimal storage for the past 7 years. I know I should be leary of vintage wines being dumped at a bargain price, but was hoping others had a better experience from K and L specifically.

Update: I would like to thank caraujo for his comments. I returned the bottle to K and L, although it was empty. With a little explanation, they took my word for it, and gave me a fresh bottle. Have not opened it yet, but will soon. Incidentally my neighbor has three bottles as well, so if it is good, I'm going to break into his garage and get more.

6/14/13, 4:29 PM - I just got an order of these myself...so now I'm a bit worried. Will probably open a bottle tomorrow and see what's in side.

6/15/13, 8:26 AM - Went ahead and opened a bottle last night and it was wonderful. After breathing for about 30 minutes, the finish was still a bit rough, but after an hour or so it rounded nicely and was just lovely. I would contact K&L and see what they will do - you clearly got a bad bottle. Good luck!
