Very rich and dark fruit flavors, but not too much so (not a fruit bomb). It had some interesting notes in the nose and finish, so we figured it was good quality for the price ($12 in Michigan).

Day 1 it was very tight, but some simple Bordeaux flavours peeked through (dark fruit, minerals, tannin). Hopeful that tonight we will find more and fuller flavours.

2002 Château Clerc Milon Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Enjoyed our last bottle with dinner last night (lamb leg). It was mature and delicious, with lots of life left (from some previous reviews, I feared it might be past its prime).

Other reviews have it right -- lots of flavors up front, and a nice big mouth feel. For me the nose was simplistic (just black fruit and alcohol), and after a big impression at the front of the mouth, I didn't find much else. Probably I just like wines that are smaller and more subtle. It's a good wine, but not to my taste (so the point rating is not relevant).

Too much like grape juice for my taste. I've enjoyed many of the newer style Spanish wines in the $10-$15 range, but couldn't find anything to appreciate in this one. And it was awful a day later (stored in fridge).

A gorgeous mouth-filling wine, enjoyed in a romantic evening with a fresh baguette and soft french cheeses. Tons of fruit-related flavor, but some complex flavors are swirling in the mix. As others noted: "Huge. Massive chunks of deep black fruits." Tannins are well-balanced with the heavy fruit. Parker (eRobertParker.com #1113) describes it as "austere" and "medium bodied" but I would say "lush" and "full-bodied."

The first Pinot-Grigio I have enjoyed -- but those were usually bland $7-$10 New World wines on a summer patio. This seemed to have citrus and pear flavors, and it was nicely crisp.

Medium bodied with some pleasant black fruit flavors; with effort, I think was able to find some hints of pepper and spice. But mostly it was not special. This had more flavor and weight than a Citra, but was much less interesting than a Tatone (2006) we had earlier in the year.

I found it to be light-bodied and weak-flavored -- maybe it is subtle and interesting but my palate did not detect much of interest. By comparison, we also had a Divus Montepulciano D'Abruzzo and it was much richer in nose and flavor.

Medium bodied with some berry, plum, and spice flavors. Different from most other Rioja's I've enjoyed: brighter and lighter (color & flavor), and lacking in earthy flavors. An excellent value at $10, our local (Michigan) grocery stores usually price it at $13.
