12/12/22, 1:35 AM - @Nobretts: Yes, I believe You are right. Experienced different qualities, especially with the 2010. However.... Wife of a friend of mine is a bordeaux wine-maker child. Asked her to find out what the Winemaker would say about this. Feedback: He believes that there are very small differences depending on the storage. He believes that it is more the mood of the drinker that changes the judgement. More or less the same answer You get from everyone. However.... I have same experience as You on 2005, 2009 and 2010. Some single bottles are dreams.
12/2/22, 4:40 AM - I drank each and every Masseto year starting from 1987 till today. In my judgement the 1993 is one of their best efforts. It had a much better balance than the 2001, 2004 or 2006, when it was somewhat young. Less power, yes, but enough power. The modern Massetos (after Mondavi engagement) have a shot of too much alcohol and glycerin for my taste. Still love them though. But am impressed that You have such a nice experience in 2020 (17 years after I drank the last 1993 Masseto).
11/17/22, 11:31 AM - Your are right. It has "at least" a decade of lifetime in front. Bought two cases and drink every two years a bottle. Started in 2016. Good then. But improves every time. Now in 22 much better and I cannot see this trend changing.
11/16/22, 10:44 AM - 10y mark is a good point I think. You are spot on, man.
11/11/22, 2:52 AM - And fair priced. Which is today a true rarity.
11/6/22, 2:51 AM - Not flawed. Just an unappealing taste like some of cheap latin american wines have. Something like way too much earth and far too little fruit. A great year for winemaking paired with a great winery, maybe my expectations were high and my judgement a little bit hard. But given the cost of the wine this is far from beeing acceptable.
