Another wine from the Don Valley appellation. Dark ruby color. The aroma of dried cherry, chocolate and light smoke. The taste of pomegranate and nightshade, pepper tones. Easy to drink, no defects.

I bought it on the recommendation of the wine blog of Denis Rudenko. Active aroma of caramel and lemonade. The taste is fresh and invigorating. Medium-bodied. Slight bitterness characteristic of Verdejo in aftertaste. Perfect for summer.

My third representative of the Don Valley appellation. The wine is almost colorless. Well, maybe with a faint straw color. Aroma is fluctuating - the apples, then citrus. The taste is fresh, lime and grapefruit. The finish is quite long with slight arugula bitterness. In general, a decent Russian wine but a little bit overpriced.

The second wine, which I brought back from the Don Valley appellation. Ruby color with a purple hue. The aroma is quite spirituose at first. Give it a breath for 15 minutes and everything comes back to normal. Black pepper, dried black berries, hawthorn and chokeberry. Medium body. On the palate: dusty ground, pickled dogwood berries and dark berries. The tannins are not aggressive. In general, smooth wine, but it lacks the "wow effect".

Had it without decanting. The aroma goes right up your brain: oak, smoke, spices. After such a strong aroma one expects that the taste will be just as powerful, masculine and uncompromising. But... The taste is surprisingly smooth with soft tannins. I would even say that in contrast to the smell the tannins are almost elusive. On the palate, dark berries and light tones of sweet-pea pepper. Finished the bottle up the next day - all leveled: the aroma became softer and the flavor got bolder. As a result, an excellent balance.

As a result of my visit to the historical homeland brought 5 wines from the appellation of the Don Valley. The first one is 2012 Chateau Sarkel, a blend of Aligote, Rkatsiteli and Chardonnay. Immediately the verdict - well drinkable. First comes the aroma of fruit and ripe apple, melon. 10 minutes later it is transformed into a vegetable-herb: pickled cabbage, pumpkin, meadow grass. The taste more follows the herb-vegetable scenario. A little bit of oak.

The aroma of ripe apple, hay and vanilla. Color - light straw with greenish reflections. The taste of peach and some citrus. The finish is smooth, medium long. In general, Iniesta delivers not only on the football field.

Beautiful Pinot Noir with a deep structure. Clear ruby color. Aroma of cherry, plum and cornel.Soft tannins - first you don't notice them but then they develop nicely in aftertaste. Drank it within 3 days and on the third day it was still outstanding.Went really well with pork ribs baked in honey and mustard sauce.

Mild and fresh. Green apple, a little bit of peach and white flowers on the nose. Tastes of green apple and lemon peel. Moderate acidity and minerality. It is definitely a summer wine but still it went well in December with fried perch.

Basic budget wine. Slight aroma of citrus. Moderate acidity. No prominent features and couldn't really tell it from Pinot Bianco from the same producer. Ok for a picnic. Ok with white fish.

Unusual wine. 36 months in oak barrels - unusual for Reserva. Dark brick color more appropriate for port. Slow heavy legs. Decant is a must, around 2 hours should be fine. Jam on the nose at opening transforms into black currant and sloe in 2 hours. Full-bodied with lots of tannins. Interesting experience.

Fantastic. Oak is very strong. Therefore decant for at least 4 hours is a must. Sediment in a bottle, which is fine considering wine's age. Hurry to drink as it is probably on the peak.

This wine is produced by a Russian family in Venetto region. Quite nice. Deep ruby color. Cherry and spices on the nose. Went real well with pasta. Cost me around 7 - 8 $ which is a very good value.
