PRIMARY FLAVORS

Dried Strawberry
Pomegranate
White Pepper
Tobacco
Clove

TASTE PROFILE

Dry
Medium-light Body
Low Tannins
Medium Acidity

The above characteristics from Wine Folly. Overall seemed a good representation of the varietal (new to me and at TW for 16$)….acid seemed a bit high but dried strawberry galore and some white pepper. Very light in the glass and body. Pretty good for something different but a little simple.

I thought this was lovely. Med+ body with + acid zing. Long finish with forest floor and a touch of mint in the background. Raspberries and gravel. Agree with the herbaceous quality in a good way. Seems to be a good cool climate representation of the varietal from south America. Oak is there but well integrated. Would gladly drink more. 14$ Costco

30$ Costco. Opened late at Xmas dinner due to other wine someone brought being a terrible wine… not flawed…just terrible (I mean really. It’s Christmas dinner…come on). Needed an extra hour but showed really well at 30 minutes. Initially a little tight and muted nose. Opened up to deep flavourful red cherries, spiced cranberries and polished tannins. Some blue fruit and no real noticeable vanilla thank goodness. as well as a blend of spices that started to sing at a hour +. Really delicious.

Delicious. Will be even better in a couple of years but 13$ at Costco so stock up and enjoy whenever. Decanted for a hour with 30 minutes in the fridge. Very fragrant nose with dusty soil, cherry, slight whiff of vanilla. Medium + body and acidity along with fine tight medium tannins. Very fresh and still young. Great with or without food. Just as good as the ‘15 I had several of. Will stick several of these away. Bargain.

Found last bottle on the shelf locally and was really hopeful. Way sweeter than 12.5% alcohol lead me to believe, wife thought the same. Very floral nose but a little flat with not enough acid for the sweetness. Very strong hibiscus and rose (reminded me of my daughter’s Boba tea flavor from earlier in the day) and not enough of the spicy ginger that I have loved in other Gewurtz. Will have to keep my eyes out for a good Gewurtz as I really like the spicy floral versions.

From total wine website-Langhe, Piedmont, Italy- A delicious blend of Barbera (60%), Dolcetto (30%) and Merlot (10%) grown in the southern Piedmont, this soft, fruit-driven wine has soft tannins and a ripe berry profile showcasing raspberry and blueberry. An ideal red to serve with soft cheeses or on its own....Overall pretty good and accurate description...only 12$ and worth it.

Consistent with 2017 vintage (of which I had many) and still a bargain. A little bit more body to this year and still perfect balance of acid, fruit and earth. Going to have several more for fall.

At the beach with fresh seafood.... delicious. Bright and clean with saline and minerals (clean oyster shells?) And just a hint of grapefruit and melon. I wish it had a little more acid zing then would be excellent but very good as it is. Would rebuy and drink with any kind of fish/shellfish.

Overall a little flat...mild lemon and jasmine. Not enough acid to balance the sweetness on this one. I don't think it was flawed...just not as good as I felt it was on several past vintages. Will try to find another gewurztraminer for Indian and Thai food.

14$ Bargain at Costco. Clean and crisp lemon and guava...with good acid. Gooseberry/grassiness emerges as it warms up but never approaches the over the top like I've had in NZ Sauv Blanc... so I like it better on the colder side. Delicious with Asian fare and a bargain. Would gladly grab more if still available.

Very good. First bottle a couple of months ago was flat and lifeless. This was light and tasty with good acid. Red fruits and lingering finish. Would get again but appears to have some bottle variation.

Very good nose of strawberry/cherry....a little high on the acid (and I like high acid), nice cool forest/mushroom with some well integrated fine tannins. Would drink again and at Costco for 17$

Agree with unexpected chewiness and rough tannins. Not a lot of fruit on the nose...it does have some pomegranate/mineral/licorice flavors but just not enjoyable enough to rebuy.

I'm not going to do any better describing this than rbhan did. For 20$ it's very good...for tranch 1 pricing at 10$ it's outstanding. Not a big California cab (thankfully) just an above average weeknight bottle or 2nd bottle with friends and grilling on the weekend.

Well structured and a powerful perfumed nose that is mouthwatering. Strong dark cherry and spices but the oak is more pronounced on this bottle. Still very good and continuing to evolve.

Savory and dark. Good nose with wet gravel/peat/soil and herbs. Cherry and plum with a tingle of 5 spice. Med+ acid but there is a stewed vegetal note on the finish that I don't love. Would be a great QPR if that would dissipate but after an hour it was still there. Costco for 12$.

11$ at Costco right now....MSRP ?18$... so the price is right and at 11$ it's a great M-Th wine that tastes like a 15-20$ Pinot (cherries...dark loamy earth, cooling forest and a little cinnamon)....smarter people than me at wine enthusiast have ithe 2020 and the 2021 at 90 points ....
(consistency!....assuming they took price into context like I do) and I'll drink this because it has been a day.....

First one of six..cough syrup nose in an interesting way...dusty medium tannins with blue/black fruits and loamy soil. Long finish. Bargain at the tranch 1 price and still fairly young...will revisit in another 5-6 months.

Sub 20$ (17$) Pinot at Costco....25$ plus at normal retail. A touch of menthol and dark cherries on the nose. Raspberries/cola and forest/earthiness with black pepper and nutmeg on the finish. Very good. Went back the next week and got 3 more. Stock up.

Dinner with L &T...beef tenderloin. Plums/blackberries and a little vanilla on the nose. Med + body with med (-)acid.... Minimal tannins and soft. Good but not distinctive. Second bottle after De Negoce n86? merlot that was superior. Would drink if offered but not buying it myself.

On the shelf at local store last week.... probably going to get more. 14$... Different and delicious. Med tannins and + acid . After an hour it got deeper flavours with nose of wet gravel and sour black cherries and white pepper on the finish. Like a French burgandy mixed with a Spanish grenache....lite on its feet but with some power. Really good.

Agree with Baron Slick...there is blueberry/spiciness/tobacco and a very slight orange peel in the midpalate that is just delicious. Med acid...long finish. Found the 2018 at the bottom of the bin at Costco...will look for more at next visit. I think it was 17$... Pretty good QPR.

TW for13$. Unoaked and really good. Light gold in the glass. Lemon and lime with just a hint of honeydew melon on the finish....a little hot stone as well. Medium long finish with med+ acid. WE best buy...still lively and delicious. Had this next to Louis Latour 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé and it held its own at half the price...not quite as long a finish but did have a little more acid zing. +1 for bargain. Will have more of this on hand

Costco for 14$... Good deal with Cali Pinot characteristics. Violets/raspberry/black cherry on the nose...med (-)tannins with med acidity but a little tomato stem/vegetal on the finish making it just a little harsh. A little cedar in there as well. Not a wow but for 14$ it's pretty good. Would drink if available.

I usually have been preferring lighter wines with little to no oak but there is a time and place for all wines and this certainly outperforms most everything else under 20$ that I have recently had. Strong nose of blackberries, oak and plums. Layers of tongue/mouth coating flavor with nice acid and well integrated oak spice. It's delicious and on an unseasonably cool evening in June it was great. Will dig to the bottom of the Costco bin and see if any more 2016 are hiding....this is in a good place right now. WCF1946 had it right on.

Better than a 10$ wine (at Costco) should possibly be. Plums and pepper on the nose (a little heat but not overwhelming..) with fine chewy tannins and juicy acidity. Blueberry/coffee/earthiness with a good extended dry finish. Should easily last a couple of more years but very good right now. Going to stock up on this one.

I love bone dry Rieslings...esp with charcuterie/cheeses. This one started off pretty good (8$ so low bar to clear) when very chilled right out of the fridge. I got it at a grocery store just to try and it had some pretty good reviews online. apple/Lime on the nose, zingy on the palate with bright citrus...no petrol or minerality...very basic. Then as it warmed the sweetness became much more pronounced. I had to look up alc % as it wasn't on the bottle..comes in around 11.5% which is just too sweet for me. Wife called it apple juice and poured hers out. Not a rebuy.

Great for 17$ at TW. 70%, 20% 10% Grenache mourvede syrah. Red fruits and garrigue/herbs with some heat on the nose. one hour later very balanced with cherry/raspberry/gravel and herbs (thyme and rosemary). Med + acid and med tannins. Good value and will likely improve the next year. Plan on having several of these stashed and revisiting.

16$ @ TW...has been a go to dry Riesling the past year. Still have 2016 in stock and I pick up a couple every time. Great with variety of Pacific Rim cuisine...or charcuterie...or shrimp and grits. Nose has lemon and a whiff of petrol. Very slight effervescence. Still very zingy acidity and lemon lime/ apple tartness on the palate. Very crisp and refreshing.

50/50 grenache and Tempranillo...I've always enjoyed mixing in some grenache with Tempranillo...I feel they harmonize and bring out each other's best qualities. Juicy with med + acidity...well integrated mild oak and some white pepper to balance it out. More elegant than intense even with 14.3% alcohol. Well done and a bargain at 14$ at TW.

Glass staining dark...very strong nose of ripe cherry/blackberry and currants. Well rounded...well integrated and balanced. Layers of fruit with just enough tannins (kind of surprised how little tannins)...very light oak to me. Delicious... usually out of my price range (40$ and widely available) but very nice to be treated every once in a while.

Good nose of cherries and roses. Strong Cherry with a little damp Earth/potting soil/forest floor initially then evolves to raspberry mild spiciness (tiny amount of clove/cinnamon). Med + acid....med - tannins. Above average finish with good length. Good qpr at 19.99 at TW. Would definitely have again.

Excellent nose with raspberry and plum. Medium - tannins and a little dusty leather/earth with plums. Very slight sour ness on the finish which was medium in length. A good example of Spanish garnache. This producer has a Bobal that was excellent and this may have suffered in comparison.

Agree with R2... really good and just different enough. Went back to TW and got a the last 2 on the shelf. 13.99 for some depth and complexity...bargain. pomegranate and cocoa powder..light fine tannins....+ acidity with a long finish that is elegant. Will be interested to see future vintages from this producer....the Cutio garnache/ carignan was ok but nothing special...this wine is very good. May become my new favorite depending on supply. Highly recommend.

Agree that there is a little sweetness which makes this come across (to my untrained tongue) as a really good Zinfandel more than other GSMs I've enjoyed. Big delicious quality fruit...A little spice is there but not as much white pepper as others. Maybe a little lacking on acid....? It is really good....just not exactly what I was expecting. wife loved it. Looking forward to seeing how the last 7 bottles measure up.
