Enveloping nose of violets, coffee (lots of it), smoked meats, plummy fruit - beefy. Softer on the palate with bitter coffee, citrus peel, tar and plum. Finish is soft and fairly short. The nose was the best part of this wine, by far, and the palate was better than the finish. Past peak. Probably would have rated 16-17 at its best. Drink up. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 3.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14.5/20.

Almost no nose. Basically, I couldn't get anything out of this. Maybe a touch of cherry and flowers. Similarly, I found the palate almost devoid as well - a touch of cherry and plum, but little else. It is worth noting that Matt N got more from this bottle than I did, and found it somewhat charming, if flawed.

Stemmy nose with some prune and spice and dark cherry. Creamy on the palate with good fruit and spice, decent structure and a tart off finish. Decent but not exceptional Red Burgundy. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 3/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 12/20.
