Penomenally tasty CdP. Huge red fruit on the nose, red currant and liquorice, with just the right amount of bretty bacon and raspberry aromas. Same on the palate, a bit hot, but oh so delish. Mild tannins, and just overflowing succulent fruit. Perhaps not the most refined CdP ever, but drinking decadently well now. Oodles of white peppery notes added on the nose as it opens up.

Good Gigondas. Nose: Doughy yeast notes immediately after opening, that dissipated and revealed dark Syrah aromas, somewhat muted. Medium body and mild tannins on the palate. Balanced, and not overly hot, which is big achievement and surprise given the 14.5% alcohol. Plenty of acid and lots of fruit. Very good food pairing wine with duck, game, and similarly flavorful but not overpowering dishes.

Decent claret, but eventually quite dissapointing. PNP it had plenty of fruit and Merlot varietal characteristics on the nose, plus some starting secondary aromas coming from the age. However, at PNP it was rather rough and disjointed on the palate, e.g. with the tannins distractingly non-integrated. In the glass, with swirling, the wine integrated in about an hour, becoming briefly quite pleasant. However, a bitter aftertaste began developing, and that began to be all I could notice. About 5 hours after opening, the rest of the wine was set aside for cooking.

Very good CdP, on the pricy side. PNP: lovely nose with prominent floral Grenache characteristics and beautiful liquorice, pepper, and leather notes; medium body, with balanced acid and significant but not overly dominant tannish. Next day, lighter body, with smooth tannins and nice Grenache palate; fruit and floral notes in the background and liquorice and leather in the front.

Huge, delicious Zin. Great Lytton vintage. Stunning nose, almost overpowering when first opened, with big red fruit and exotic, effervescent notes. Fruitbomb on the palate, a notch hot, with nice tannins and acid to provide structure and balance. Well-integrated when first opened, but becomes exceptionally balanced after a few hours, with refined mouthfeel and bouquet.

Nice CA Pinot. Nose a bit closed but pleasant, with darkish notes plus typical varietal characteristcs. Very nicely balanced, with well integrated oak and bright acid. Closed off further over 8hrs with only muted fruit and tea notes left at end.

Very tasty CA Pinot, in the dark-fruit Russian River style. Delicious nose with dark cherry. A bit hot and disjointed on the palate, with oak a bit too prominent, so doesn't live up to its full potential. But still delicious.

Light, very young tasting, with plenty of red fruit on the nose. Reminiscent of beaujolais nouveau, except with cab frank. Pleasant and not overpowering, food friendly and would pair well with mild cuisines.

Excellent big cab in new-world style. Well balanced, despite high alcohol, with no heat on palate. Huge fruit with dark notes and cassis on the nose, joined with bright acid and smooth but notable tannins. Very long pleasant finish. Ageworthy.
