Decent Pinot but lacking expression, punch and weight for a Gevrey Vieilles Vignes. As others have noted, very light in color and rather subdued nose. Nothing wrong here and the balance was very fine - I simply had expected more oomph for the appellation and year.

In der Nase finde ich reife Birne, fast wie aus der Dose, dazu eine sehr kräutrig-florale Note wie von Waldmeister und Löwenzahn und ganz viel Graphit.
Am Gaumen sehr kernig, fast rosiniert, dazu durchaus warm aber keinesfalls breit und dann zieht sich die Graphit-Note durch. Der Wein hat eine hohe innere Spannung und eine ganz toll eingebundene feine Säure.
Fast kaubar im Abgang, da freu ich mich sehr auf die zweite Flasche. Unheimlich gelungener Holzeinsatz!

Excellent Spätlese from a prime vineyard from a terrific producer from a very good year. You can't go wrong with this combinaton and the 07 Wehlener Sonnenuhr did not let me down: Amazing (ripe) fruit, nicely dialed-in petrol notes, fabulous acidity and what a finish. Spectacular.

First time me trying the Tasting Note Assistant ;)

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, mineral, red currant, cherry, sandalwood, nutmeg and violet. It tastes like cherry, raspberry, red currant, mineral, tobacco and thyme. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity.

In short: This is an amazing and very elegant Sangiovese that is very much recommended and worth any search. Clear upside potential.
