Probably my best Bouscassé experience so far (included Vielles Vignes and Montus). On the palate the wine is powerful wine a harmonious texture. Still some tannins but not that disturbing. The fruit is wide open and feel rounded and almost sweet, far away from the blackness of the young wine. I wish some of my Bordeaux wines would be this nice after ten years. Great value also.

2005 Château Mazeyres Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Very juicy and smooth, clearly developed, with nice energetic blue fruitiness, some bitterness from paprika, mint chocolate and a little "stench" quality that I appreciate. Drinkable now with very kind tannins and over all a very homogeneous mouth-feel. This bottle was great but maybe not outstanding.

Dense, dark fruit and mint chocolate. Also a smell of horse that brings complexity. Very easy to like and absolutely drinkable already. Lacks a little personality but of course you can spot concentration and quality here. Not my cup of tea and I will not buy again but I don't regret that I tasted it.

Elegant on the palate with fresh acidity and just a hint of tannins. Sun-ripe, red berries and wet stones. A good drink in this price-range, nice and clean, but lacks concentration.

An amazing bottle and far better that earlier tastings. Especially the oak has integrated nicely and the fruit is also wide open now. Medium-bodied and fresh, full of elegance and finesse this wine drinks beautifully now. Don't regret buying a case of these.

A very nice bottle, still with fresh acidity. On the palate of course very developed with notes of arrak, smokey mineral, tobacco and almonds but also some freshness in red apples and satsumas. The aromas are very complex and melted together.

Not much has changed since I last tried this wine half a year ago. The wine is still really fresh and full of nuances. Citrus, mineral, bee-wax and some herbs. Very interesting and personal in a style that I drink way to seldom drink.

Seems like you can buy any red wine from Bordeaux from the 2009 vintage and get a great experience. This wine is no exception and shows dense, ripe fruit with classical flavours as cassis, grass, coffee and gravel. Despite a few years old this wine feel rather young and there will be no problem keeping it maybe five years or so.

Very developed on the palate with dried fruit, raisins, figs cherries in liqour and violet candy. Nice balance but shows a little bitterness and the finish is also rather short. Over all the wine tastes very good but lacks a little complexity and finesse.

A juicy and a little more than medium-bodied wine where acidity and residual sugar is in perfect balance. A very integrated touch of botrytis and a little mineral note brings further complexity. Clearly developed on the palate but not at all (too) old. The fruit is still fresh and energetic. An outstanding wine, year after year.

Some development but still a lively acidity and rough tannins. Great concentration and length but the tannins make it hard to drink on its own. It may be me who is a little sensitive though. Rather open on the fruit with currant, black wine-gums, dried plums, tea and dark chocolate.

Very fresh and high on acidity for a Viognier. Typical notes of peach, honey, bacon(!), orange flowers and bergamot. Long finish and powerful concentration. A great wine that doesn't need more time in the cellar I think.

A much better bottle than I had a year ago from this vintage. This on is dry, a little developed, a little waxy with notes of white peaches, almonds, hay, smokey minerals and a lovely, rich sun-ripe fruit. Fully integrated oak and a nice acididy makes the wine very harmonious and drinkable. A rather complex wine indeed.

Yummy. Rather sweet on the palate but with an acididty to back it up. Rich, tropical fruit that is still full of energy. Last bottle of the vintage unfortunately. An outstanding entry level riesling.

A generous wine with lots of not too sweet fruit and wet stones. Very drinkable with fresh acidity and smooth tannins. No signs of bay leafs or white pepper here, just nice, juicy fruitiness. Will last longer but drinks well right now. Will buy again.

Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate with rather tight fruit. Feels old-school in a good way with red berried, toasted oak and dried herbs. Right between the youthful and the developed and therefore very nice to drink now. Far from outstanding but a good glass of wine.
White
Great already but will be even better within a few years. Youthful on the palate with really high acidity and notes of apples, almond, basil and volcanic mineralty. The texture is oily but fresh. A great wine on its own or with food.

A much better bottle than the one I tasted a year ago. This one i full of youthful energy combined with complex development. Very elegant on the palate with smooth tannins and fresh acidity. Perfect balance between fruit and spiciness from oak.

This was a really boring bottle with a dusty, not so fresh feeling. The acidity has faded and the development is far from perfect. Some almonds, rotten apples and stoney minerals on the palate. A much better wine in it's youth.

This wine is in a lovely phase right now, still young and fresh but also with some development that brings smoothness and complexity. I find the fruit rather dense and ripe with some crispy mineral notes in the background. Very good. Will buy again if the price is right.

An outstanding effort from an outstanding producer. Medium-bodied on the palate with rich fruit. Really concentrated and balanced with a long finish. Very interesting and also with great personality. Cherries, milk chocolate, coconut, toasted oak and minerals. Is this just about how great a Blaufränkish can get?

Young with nice perfume, juicy on the palate with warm spiciness. Sweet red berries and toasted oak. Very elegant but a little light and with a short finish. Tastes very good and is well balanced.

Young on the palate with minerals, pears and almonds. The texture is a little oily with high acids. A little too tight on the fruit at the moment. For me Pittnauer's red wines are a little more interesting at this price. Still a good drink though.

This is a really serious bottle of Gamay with loads of stoney minerals, dark berries and a little hint of leather. Well-structured with fresh acidity and also some tannins makes till a wine for the cellar. But why wait, it's outstanding already.

A lot of development here but no signs of oxidation. Butter from the oak, chalky mineral notes and fresh, tropical fruit. The acidity is still lively. Complex and well-tasting on it's own or matched with cod and bacon.

Amazing quality for a Langhe and lot's of Nebbiolo-feeling. Sweet, red berries, horses, violets, roses, spices and paint. This is a really juicy, elegant wine, medium-bodied and with tannins that are about to be nice and smooth. Will drink my last -06 within a year or so while the acidity is still crisp and energetic, but it will surely last longer in a good cellar.

As usual a great experience drinking mature Mandolás. I love the young wine also but the developed wine shows an outstanding complexity with arrak, almonds and volcanic mineral notes. This bottle has an acidity that is just a little off which makes the wine a little unfresh, still it's better than the bottle I opened a year ago. I'll drink my last -06 within a year.

Clean, pure fruit, great mineral notes and a little too obvious popcorn sensation from oak treatment. A little weak acidity makes the wine a little off-fresh, but it's really not that much of a problem. Over all good concentration and maybe a couple of years in the cellar would make the wine more harmonious.

Juicy on the palate with lovely red berries like cherries and wild strawberries. Still high on acidity and tannins but there's no problem drinking right now. I'll keep the rest of my bottles a few years before drinking for a smoother mouth-feel.

This wasn't the best bottle I've had from this wine but still fresh acidity and some sweet berry notes. Over all though a little dry on the fruit and some bitter tannins. This bottle had it's peak a while ago.

Great Nebbiolo-nose with red berries, spices, roses and perfume. On the palate a little rough with rather harsh tannins clearly in need of further cellaring. Tastes good now but will probably become even better with age.

Has developed a little faster than expected and is now a little oxidized with not that fresh acidity. Some complexity on the palate but the wine tasted better a few years ago when the energy was still there.
White - Off-dry
Complex and developed with notes of tobacco, papaya, lime and lemon. Some salty minerals in the finish also. No need to keep this further. Great now.
Red
Powerful and concentrated on the fruit with generous notes of oak. A little too extracted and oaky for my palate but of course I find quality and complexity in this wine. Enormous length and balance made this an interesting wine to taste but I wouldn't buy it again.
White - Off-dry
A serious Kabinett with youthful, green fruit and smokey mineral notes. Nice balance between acidity and sweetness. Good length.

This was a great bottle. Other bottles from a case have not shown this quality though. Rich, ripe fruit, some stoney mineral notes and a little touch of diesel. A little developed but still energetic fruit and acidity. Great quality for a basic wine.

A robust wine with black currant, mushrooms and rusty nails. The fruit is a little dry but the wine shows good balance, length and power. Lacks a little complexity and you could rather easily find a better wine in this price range.

Very elegant and nicely developed both on the nose and on the palate. Red berries, rosehip, dried tomatoes, licorice, leather and chalk. Very juicy, fresh and extremely drinkable. Subtle and elegant with a charming personality. Will buy again.

Concentrated, fat blue, berries on the palate with notes of cocoa. High acidity and low on tanins makes this wine very fresh and drinkable. This is a really pure and elegant wine, and on the same time concentrated and with personality, that I like a lot. Will buy again.

This wine suits me fine, right in the middle of the modern and the classical. Dense, sweet fruit and gravelly minerals on the palate with ripe tanins and high acidity. Fullbodied and concentrated with good length. Nice oak treatment that brings depth and character rather than sweet vanilla. Drink now or keep if you'd like more development. A great buy.

Not flawed but probably over the top with a dusty, non-fresh feeling and thin, green fruit. Maybe a bad bottle or stored wrongly but this was not impressive.

A lot of fruit and tannins and over all rather tough on the palate but the enormous concentration is perfectly balanced into an elegant and subtle wine. Nice, blue fruit and luxurious spices from oak. Full-bodied with great acidity and in-bedded alcohol. Total harmony, drink or keep.
