Won at a wine auction along with another '69, a 70 and 2 73's, bottles all in great condition, fills into the necks. Cork saturated through, but came out in one piece. I wasn't sure what to expect from this wine, but was blown away. Still very lively, red plum flavors and leather. Very nice! I can't wait to try the other vintages.

Bottle in good condition, cork saturated all the way through. Much lighter than I would have expected. Still plenty of fruit, this is a fantastic value at roughly $80!

Bottle and cork in very good shape. Big nose, leather, tobacco and stewed fruit. Nice acidity, but all in balance. A wonderful wine. Fully mature, but in no rush to drink my other bottles.

Dark in the glass, nose of stewed fruits and leather. A serious wine, lots of fruit, but all in balance. Fully mature but should drink well for the next 5+ years.

Bottle 2 of 2, not as optimistic as I was on this to last a bit longer, but could be bottle variation. Cork was in good shape but crumbled upon opening. Stewed plums, leather, cigar box. Enjoyable and there's no reason to hold off on opening these up!

Pale garnet in the glass, much lighter than you'd expect from a RRV bottling. Wonderful, yet restrained nose. I'm a big fan of this wine, I with more RRV Pinots made their wine in this style.

I'm a big fan of Musar, this is my first 2000. Nose is classic Musar and perhaps my favorite characteristic of this wine. Leather and earth on the palate, with bright acidy. Overall, very good, but not my favorite Musar.

This is a special wine for my wife and I, we purchased 2 bottles on our first date in the summer of 2007. 6 years, 2 children later we opened the first to celebrate my wife's new job. Unfortunately, the wine underwhelmed, but wine is about memories and sharing that bottle brought back many from that day. The sentimental value of this wine will outweigh any reason to consume the second bottle, so it will remain tucked away at the back of the cellar.

First of 5 bottles, and my first Pegau. Bottle in somewhat questionable state, slightly depressed cork with some indication of seepage. Wondering if the prior owner didn't store this correctly. Upon opening, classic CdP nose, earth and leather. Very rustic. Smooth on the palate, dark, plum, with smooth tannins. NR for now, but would guess 93-94. Hopefully the other 4 bottles are in better condition.

Decanted for 30 minutes before dinner. Leather, cedar, vanilla on the nose. Velvety tannins, excellent balance and mouthfeel. An incredible wine that's likely to get even better. Those popping a cork now will not be disappointed though.

Lovely wine, especially for the price. Medium golden in the glass, this Meursault offers notes of citrus and limestone. Medium weight with nice complexity. Drinking well now, but I plan to hold my others for a copule years before revisiting.

Great bottle of Cabernet. My first Napanook. This is drinking beyond it's years, almost like a late '90s Cabernet. Leather, smoke and dark fruits. Tannins have mostly resolved themselves, very smooth and slightly sweet. Drinking well now but will hold for another 5 years if you want to cellar it.

Earth, cedar and licorice on the nose. Medium to full bodied, with cassis and dark fruit covering up soft, sweet tannins. Medium to long finish, but seems somewhat one dimensional. This is a wonderful wine, nothing is out of place. I expected more though, perhaps my expectations were a bit too high. This wine doesn't show much age, but its ready and should be great another 10+ years. Will try again in 2-3 years.

Pop'ed and poured. Let wine open in the glass for 30 minutes or so. Very muted nose, dusty with a hint of blackberry. Not much on the palate, fruit seems to be fading but still has good acidy. Rating might be a bit on the harsh side, but for what I paid, expected more.

Enjoyed this wine w/ a cheeseburger at Spruce. Despite not much history here in CT and indications that this is well past it's prime, I found this bottle to still have plenty of life. No formal notes, but really enjoyable, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another bottle if priced right.

Took a flier on a few of these from JJB last year, after reading mindmuse's note I became a bit concerned that $60 for grand cru burg may have been wishful thinking. Opened and let sit in the glass for an hour, dark cherry color with cranberry and raspberry on the nose. Much more fruit than I would have expected. On the palate, mushroom but not overpowering, the abundance of red fruits balances nicely. Good acidity leaves the mouth watering. Drinking well now, but the rest can sit in the cellar for a while.

Clear, pale purple intensity with lighter rim and many legs. Clean with pronounced nose. developing. black cherry, black fruit, ripe blackberry fruit, cooking spices, licorice, and wet stone. Dry, with med acid, med + tannins, full body, and high alcohol. The flavor intensity is medium. Unripe black fruit, some baking spices, chalky influence, oak and smoked tobacco. The tannins are a bit out of balance compared to the rest of the wine. Medium finish.
Acceptable. Drink now and not intended for aging.

Clear dark ruby intensity with thick coloring all the way to the rim. Some legs. Clean, medium - intensity on the nose. This wine is developing. Dark black fruit-black currants and blackberries. Secondary notes of oak, coffee and sweet spice. Dry, with medium + acid, high tannins, high alcohol and a full body. The flavor intensity is a medium + as many old world flavors hit your tongue right off the bat. Earthy notes of forest floor mixed in with blackberries, black cherry and currants. Bell pepper, cedar and oak finish off the flavor profile. Tannins are still astringent, but drinkable. Long finish. This will be lovely in 2 years.

Clear, medium purple intensity, with thick legs. Clean, with a medium intensity. This wine is currently developing. Raspberries, red plums, red cherry, sweet baking spices, vanilla, and sweet tobacco. Dry, with med + acid and low tannins, medium + body and high alcohol. The flavor intensity is a medium +. The varietals are integrated extremely well. Raspberries, plum, red currants, toast and sweet cedar on the finish. Med- finish. Great wine. Drink now and has potential for aging.

Clear, medium purple core with lighter rim. Watery legs. Clean, medium intensity on the nose. This wine is definitely developing some of its secondary characteristics. Blackberries, violet, wet stone, small amounts of barnyard, ripe black plum and a hint of savory. Dry, with medium acidity, high tannins, full body and medium + alcohol. On first taste, I felt like I just licked the head of a cat as the tannins overpowered my entire palate. The flavor intensity is medium and is somewhat hard to define because of the harsh tannins. After I recovered from that first taste and let the wine breath, I picked up some tart black cherry, unripe blackberries, savory spice and tons of oak. This wine has seen its fair share of new french oak. Medium + finish. This wine will be good in 5 years once the tannins soften. Hold.

Clear pale ruby intensity with lighter watery rim and think tears. Clean, pronounced nose of earth, black cherries, black currants, sweet spice, red meat, sweet tobacco. This wine is developing. Dry, medium - acidity and medium tannins, medium body and high alcohol. Flavor intensity is medium but does develop on the tongue. Bright red fruit of cherries, raspberries, and tart cranberry hit you first, followed by earthy sensations of wet stone and finally oak, cedar, and some charred wood. The flavor component are all there, but the fruit and the earth flavors seem to be fighting for domination in your mouth. Medium finish. Good. Can drink now and not intended for aging.

Clear, Medium Ruby with nice thin legs. Clean with medium intensity nose. Very fruity nose of ripe blackberries, blueberries, some sweet baking spices, woody vanilla and olives. This wine is currently developing on the nose. Dry, medium acidity with low soft tannins, medium body and medium + alcohol. This wine has great red fruit cherry, raspberry and is integrated well with cedar, vanilla, sweet tobacco and some white pepper on the end. This wine is lush and continues to get complex as you let it open up. Definitely fruit driven. The flavor intensity is a medium plus. Medium plus finish. Good. Can Drink now but has potential aging 1 to 2 years max.

Clear, pale purple color intensity with noticeable tears on the glass. Clean, Not overly aromatic, with a medium - intensity nose. This wine is developing. Fresh blackberries, sweet spice and crushed rock on the nose. Dry, with charming medium + acidity, soft and lush medium tannins supports this full-bodied and high alcohol wine. This is a medium intensity flavor wine with characteristics that build upon each other after each sip. Complexity of this wine shines through on the palate. Blackberries, ripe blueberries, restrained jam, game, forest floor, mineral notes, and a little leather on the finish. This wine has a bold elegance that makes me weak in the knees for Syrah. This wine is balanced and has a medium finish. I think this is a wine of very good quality that can be drank now but has potential for ageing.
