A private dinner (Restaurant Blandford Comptoir, London, UK): This is all about energy and poise, about line and length, pure and transparent, wonderful lift of flowers (stalks) and oak spices, lovely hint of earth, very firm mineral core, ripe but fresh cherry fruit (red, blue and black with more aeration), elegant and intense, perfectly integrated oak, perfectly judged skin phenolics, great acidity, tightly wound but with the promise of great amplitude, long finish. Real elegance and precision, especially in the context of Pommard. Merveilleux. Drink now until 2040.

Domaine Pattes Loup a toujours su être à la hauteur par le passé, mais c’est la première que j’essaie du Chablis Villages. Oui c’est un Village, mais quand même à 48$ à la SAQ.

Je n’ai pas noté pour ne pas couler le vin, mais j’aimerais avoir votre avis.

6/26/22, 7:29 PM - Parfaitement d’accord avec toi. Je n’ai jamais gouté d’autres cuvées de M. Picot mais j’ai trouvé ça juste correct, pas à la hauteur des 50$ payés. J’avais de la pomme oxydée mais pas grand chose d’autre, sûrement à cause de la chaleur du millesime? Bref, une première expérience pas très concluante pour moi. J’hésite à retourner mon autre quille…

Merlot and Cabernet Franc (no info on the exact percentage of the blend)

Brownish hue, limpid, showing sign of appropriate age.

Nose is quite masculine reminiscing some Pomerol producers such as VCC. Super classic mix of dark fruits, garden herbs, cedar oak, wet earth

The palate is quite high tone at first but after an hour or so it starts to come together. Not overly complex but fully mature. Some truffle mushroom commingling with black berry fruits. Quite satisfying finish, though not very long.

This is a mature right bank made in a style hark to previous decades that had gone by. Lean, pure, quite stony. No excess in any way. It tells the story of the place and its proximity to the great commune of Pomerol. Will buy again. Ready now. 89.
