The aromas grow richer as the wine opens up, with deep cherry, tobacco, and spicy notes, with a medium-bodied and leathery palate where the fruit plays off the acidity to fine affect. Bone-dry, with rich cherry flavors, and velvetty red fruits. An impressive wine for the money.

3/5/10, 2:35 PM - Just picked this up. Do you think it needs a decant? If so, how long?

Phew! Tough work. Intense and packed tight with notes of charcoal, violets, blueberries. Incredibly young and quite a big mouth full. After 6 hours in a decanter it does start to reveal some more nuances characteristics but for now this is primary fruit, heat and teeth gripping tannins. A bit like being punched in the mouth for now - needs 5-8 years to calm down.

3/4/10, 2:22 PM - I recently opened this, had a similarly "tough" first sip, and then put the cap back on. Three days later I returned and the wine had integrated nicely, and though the ephemeral floral notes on the nose had faded, the palate showed very nice blue and black fruits with a streak of pepper and minerality. Definitely needs time...

Very well made and I know with a little more time this will shine even more, but right now its balance is a little out of focus. Great red fruits, good smooth full body and excellent structure.
