Absolute standout of a day filled with spectacular wines. Smoked meat, dark cherry, touch of licorice balanced with some red currant and spice. Not overly powerful, but incredibly long finish with elegant tannins.

Over the hill or possibly a storage issue.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Progressive evolution throughout but consistently enjoyable after about 30min of air. My notes reflect the full progression. The 2019 Barolo “Berri” pours a bright garnet with a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. No signs of sediment or gas. On the nose, intensely gorgeous aromas raspberries, dark cherries, roses, tar, orange rind, and dried herbs. On the palate, high tannin, medium+ acid, and medium+ alcohol. Confirming the notes from the nose. The fruit is tart, crunchy, fresh and the finish is very long and savory. With air, this seems to build some weight. This is really right up my alley and quite impressive. If this is representative of why there is increasingly more interest in the Berri cru, I can certainly understand why. There is quite a lot to like. There is freshness and an underlying confidence/power that is beguiling. Traditionalist hearts will pitter patter. Drink now with patience or reap an even more handsome reward down the line. This should drink very well through 2040 and beyond.

Lovely acidity, mouth puckering and bright, lacking a bit of depth but very refreshing and tasty. I definitely preferred the 20' Les Bruyères I had recently, but this is still very nice. Probably even better in 1-2 years.
