Opened the bottle to great promise. The cork, while soaked almost through was intact. The nose promised so much more than the wine delivered. Was still a nice ruby color showing some tinges of brown to go with its age. The nose was actually quite floral. The texture was extremely light with very little going on. This wine was definitely several years (or more) beyond prime.

The cork, although soaked through has held for 29 years and came out intact. The wine is just started showing some brown tinges on its edge but has maintained a nice color and is quite bright. The body has held and the tannins are well integrated. beautiful legs coat the glass. Some fruit still present but is quite integrated into a more earth/wood flavor. Probably several years past its prime, but for a 1981 (not a great Margaux vintage) this wine is quite enjoyable.

Drank a bottle Jan 2, 2010 with a spicy tomato/artichoke pasta. Out of the bottle there were lots of heavy tannins with the presence of berries. Opened in a decanter for 30+ minutes and tannins broke down quickly and the wine picked up more volume and body. As it opened it developed a warm/natural taste of vanilla/brown sugar blended with a natural earthy flavor. The berries faded There is a very nice lingering finish. The strength of the 2005 vintage shows. Paid $24

Nez assez fin de fruits rouges et noirs avec des notes épicées. Belle bouche à la construction parfaitement intégrée à l'ensemble. L'acidité ne semble pas encore s'être fondue entièrement. Un beau vin, classique dans le bon sens du terme.

Even though this Chardonnay is 10 years old, it is excellent if a bit light
