February 28, 2024 - Has a very strong acid through its taste. It reminds me of wines from 1996.

The acid takes over the wine so its hard to tell any aromas or flavours.

It maybe have gone a little above its peak, but the cork popped slightly.

If you have one bottle i think its time to open it up.

April 27, 2021 - Full golden color with very mild beading; complex nose of toffee sweetness, baked apple, quite toasty; palate has similar qualities, very relaxed and soft vinosity. Showing peak maturity and in a great place now!

January 13, 2020 - Holiday dinner with friends at French Embassy, Washington D.C. (Petit Bouchon Restaurant, French Embassy): Notes of hazelnut and toffee. Salted almond. This is pretty taut and lovely for its age. Indeed, the color is excellent, too. An overall impression of being svelte. Paul who brought it said that they had "a good run" in early 1990s, even if the 1993 vintage is not recognized as being that great. Indeed, both Decanter and wine critic John Gilman loved this in rather recent tastings. Rated 97 points by Decanter in a 2017 tasting, the panel noted that 1993 may be an average vintage overall for the region, but this 1993 proved a "real beauty, equal to the 1995 but in a different style." Gilman gave it 94 out of 100, when he tasted it in 2016. He described the wine as having been "fully mature for many years now, but continues to be fresh and lively on the palate, with its internal structure sound and seamless."

February 4, 2018 - Lots of promise with this one, but a bit too advanced. Nutty aromas seem to dominate but with time, bruised apple, brown sugar, spearmint introduce fresh, lively flavors of baked apple, sourdough and chalky minerals in the background. 91-92 points. Perhaps other bottles are more on point.

November 10, 2016 - Nice and bready nose, lots of warm brioche. Distinct salinity. Nice and toasty but still with a salty edge. Somewhat oxidative but not too far along. Mild orange citrus, dried apricots, slightly nutty, and a bit eggy. Super bright on the palate with plenty of energy. Dense, rich, strong finish with plenty of effervescence. Maybe the perfect time to be drinking this. The nose is mature, but the palate is crisp and brimming with acidity and freshness. Every bit as enjoyable as a '90 and '85 of this enjoyed recently, but this bottle was opened with port tongs and a super soaker...

July 11, 2016 - Fantastic Champagne - powerful, deep, and very long with lots of depth to the citrus and pear fruit, and layers of fresh baked bread, yeast, vanilla cream, and chalky minerality augmenting the fruit here. It's quite rich and full bodied on the palate, yet feels amazingly light and focused thanks to the powerful acidity beneath, with a finish that goes on and on. Loved this.

July 11, 2016 - An atypical Monday (Dale's): Beautiful! Very active, fine mousse. Very rich brioche/biscuit/toast nose. Amazing mouthfeel, creamy; brioche, cream, rich lemon, creme brulee, dough, toast on the palate, with a citrus lift. Long finish. Yum.

September 23, 2015 - Drank alongside the 96. Slightly darker than the 96 and quite a bit more mature. Mushroom nose, complex aged champagne notes. Decent acidity and weight. Well balanced and length. Excellent.
