February 4, 2024 - Firm, rustic, and with as much greenery as fruit, the cranberry notes were more present than currants, giving the wine an overall, tart, chewy, austere, old-school character. The wine is typical of the vintage. If this is your thing, you are going to like it much more than I did. It will go a while longer. But the character is never going to change. Drink from 2024-2040.
January 27, 2024 - Whole Lotta Lafite; 1/26/2024-1/27/2024 (Wine Watch, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida): There is no trace of Lafite elegance in this bruiser of a vintage where the tannins and acidity have outlasted the fruit and from an era in which Lafite was not at the top of the echelon. Orange brown and too acidic and thin. Sometimes these old fashioned Bordeaux can be pleasant to drink but this is not one of them.
January 26, 2024 - dark red with brown hue. rustic acidity and leather when just opened, breathing in bottle for one hour, clean fruity flavours dominating, even a little sweet, very well mellowed, rose and violet, cedar, herbals, elegant but complex.
Prof Lei opened this, it's his vintage. very enjoyable, lasting nearly one hour, surprisingly vigorous and keep changing, amazing.

January 13, 2023 - Couleur assez sombre entre le brique et plus brun. Arômes de sucre brun, vieux, bois, cuir, mais aussi d’épices et de quelque chose de style « balsamique ». C’est élégant mais puissant en même temps. En bouche c’est une caresse, tout en finesse, mais le vin se tient aussi en ce sens qu’il ne faiblit pas et dure longtemps. Fruits séchés, un peu de notes d’agrumes, de tabac, vieux bois, cuir et finale épicée. S’améliore de minutes en minutes et comme c’est souvent le cas, les dernières gorgées étaient les meilleures. October 17, 2022 - IWFS Lafite Big Bottles (The Modern): Not well loved by most of the room but this was my WOTN. Great and stayed great throughout the evening (my last sip of the night before I finished my champagne was this wine). It's a bit almost minty in style. Lots of potpourri. There's dark dried fruits. Very expressive. From a double magnum from the estate.
May 4, 2022 - Lafite Rothschild vertical (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): Bright dark red color, a slightly crumbling cork. Fully mature nose displaying sweet red fruit, strawberry, plum, a hint of cassis, cedar, sous bois, lead pencil, cinnamon, light caramel, soy, tree bark and mineral. Nicely integrated palate, silky and fluid, perfect amount of acidity, earthy mineral, still showing slightly coarse tannins, and a medium long slightly dry red fruit driven finish. This was unyielding forever. Even after almost half of a century, it still shows a bit of coarse tannins. I like the old school claret expression.
April 16, 2022 - Full rounded deep feminine wine. Woody, rich. Tannic yet highly drinkable. Big without being overwhelming.
September 26, 2021 - Classic if a little lightweight in aromatic intensity and concentration on pop n’ pour, though it gains weight and density over several hours. The last glass was the best with medium richness of fruit with classic detailing and complexity — pencil lead and cedar really stood out in a bright finish. A fun time capsule.
