May 8, 2023 - All wine, no poker (Lincoln, Mass.): Served with morels on toast: This was a gift from Karl Wee, ridiculously generous, and much appreciated by the assembled hooligans. A very elegant wine, with restrained fruit, some spiciness, brightness.

January 23, 2023 - Nose exhibits earth, forest, and dark fruit. It has richness on the palate but lacking finesse. Prefer the 99 Potel Petit Monts on the side.

September 28, 2017 - I wish I could get on board with the widespread praise (below) but sadly this was a spoiled bottle, heavy on the mercaptans.

February 12, 2016 - Fireworks in the glass! This wine has finally entered its prime drinking window. Fully mature nose very similar to its neighbor, La Tache, with tremendous Malconsorts weight. Lovely mature floral notes combined with classic Vosne spice on the nose. As good as a classic Malconsorts can be from an outstanding vintage which is evident in the ripeness and weight of the fruit. It's not La Tache but this bottle was close with La Tache being more complete in every facet. Still this bottle was absolutely stunning! Wow wine.

February 21, 2014 - Dark almosted roasted aromas of dense black fruits with underlying baking spice. Big fruit weight with nice rich mouthfeel, a bit riper than expected, yet has some interesting nuances. Good finish, but touch compact. Seems to be far from peak and a touch rustic.

February 20, 2014 - Big youthful nose of black cherry and Christmas spice. Palate is bold with good red fruit and spice stuffing but unevolved and on the shorter side. Seems to need time or air ... or both.

February 20, 2014 - 1999 Burgundy 1er Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Tasted single blind alongside Meo-Camuzet 1999 Brulees. This clearly showed attractive Vosne baking spice character with mostly black fruit that was reasonably dense and mature with good earthy elements as well as the firm nature I often associate with Malconsorts.

May 28, 2007 - This is the sort of wine that makes believers out of Burgundy skeptics. Like so many other 99's this one is just drinking beautifully right now. Gorgeous nose, lots of mature pinot fruit balanced by great acidity and smooth tannins. Very nice.
