Agree that this is a light approach to Zinfandel. But, I kind of like that about it. Lots of interest and not overwhelming the cheese and cracker stand up we had.

Scott Harvey wines are great, with even his basic Mountain Selection wines garnering 86-87 pts. Cherry and spice on the nose and palate, and a little thinner than many of his other wines, this is yet another very nice effort. It's certainly not as smooth or developed as the J&S Reserve, and doesn't have the phenomenal complexity, density, mouth feel, and smoothness that the 1869 can display, but STILL it's better than the bulk of Zins out there.

Unusual zin, but quite pleasant. Color is very light, aromas are dominated by cherry and spices. Body is light to medium with a medium finish. Paired with Zinfandel braised lamb, this wine was a bit too light for the dish, but pleasant on its own.

Translucent garnet. Cranberry, oak, churro, and fig nose. Light to medium bodied, dirty strawberries, raisins, pepper, soft and sweet tannins, caramel, and a medium finish. Better on day 2 after the overt port aromas blew off.

Outstanding value in Zin. Bursting with berry fruits and some spice. Very well balanced and excellent structure with a medium body. Gives you a ton of delicious flavor without the heaviness or jammy feeling.

Similar to last year, but better. Sweeter on day one, spicier on day 2. Only the slightest port characteristics are left.

Light bodied with fruit and a good amount of spice box--chewy tannins and a shorter finish.
