Dark cherry, balsamic, fig, medium acid. Wine is good, not great, right now. I dont see this wine getting any better; not a vintage for aging. Pop and pour, food not needed.

Regrettably, I think this wine is on the downslope. When I last reviewed this, almost 2 years ago, I wrote of charred fruit. Now, the fruit is all but gone, and the char adds notes of bitterness. It may well be that I should have opened long before drinking, so I have stoppered the bottle, and will revisit it tomorrow. But, at present, I would advise caution, and recommend drinking now, not holding. Let's see what develops...

Quite translucent and luminous, but also pretty dark ruby red color. Very dark-toned and somewhat earthy nose with aromas of juicy and quite sweet dark cherries, some plummy fruit, hints of dried prunes and an underlying nuance of leather. Rich, supple and full-bodied on the palate with lots of ripe, well-delineated fruit on the fore: dark cherries, plummy dark fruit, some sour cherry bitterness and hints of peppery spice. The warm vintage is quite evident in the sweet edge of the fruit. The structure feels in balance with the fruit, the wine having moderate acidity and moderate, firm but not that grippy tannins. The finish is long, juicy and quite opulent with somewhat less sweet and more savory flavors of peppery spice, dark cherries, some tart sour cherry character, a hint of earth and a little tannic astringency.
Here we have a classy and sophisticated Chianti Classico with more weight than in 2012 or 2010 and with much emphasis on the pure, slightly sweet and very ripe, dark-toned fruit. Although somewhat big and pretty ripe, the structure feels well-balanced with the rest of the wine. This is an enjoyable and nice Chianti Classico from the sweeter and obviously more ripe end, drinking very nicely right now. Although the wine shows potential to short-to-medium-term cellaring, I wouldn't hold on to this vintage for too long.

Bright and tart, the predominant flavor is an overlay of charred fruits - flavors one associates with grilling over an open fire - and a fascinating additional dimension. This is different from a burnt flavor, as wine made from grapes that have seen a bit too much of hot sun and have begun to raisinate. A good accompaniment to strongly flavored foods.
Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Colour: Light red Nose: Cherries, dusty & earthy components, a bit of black currant Palate: Off balance in my opinion. Too sour & acidic for me, although I´m a acid lover. No real fruit and a lack of complexity.
I was dissapointed from my first Montevertine wine. Maybe better with a bit of age but this entry level wine should be enjoyable from the start.

Pian del Ciampolo is one of my "go to" wines because of how predictably enjoyable it is, and this bottle was no exception. Dusty cherries, damp earth, and hints of thyme fill the nose. Much of the same can be found on the palate, which was tight when first poured but opened up over the course of 30 minutes. The tannins and acid are here in force, and the finish fairly dry; this wine will improve with a few years of age. RECOMMENDED.

Friske røde bær. Rips og bringebær på nesa. Ren fruktdreven stil. Nesten burgundersk. Bløt og slank frukt på paletten. Elegante og svært finkornede gir en flott fasthet. God syrlig ryggrad i hele smakskurven. Fin balanse.

An outstanding 89 points wine. It is a very fine little rustic Italian wine made from native grapes: Sangioveto (a clon of Sangiovese, or so they sade), Canaiolo and Colorino made in a very low colour style, with a nice nose of red fruit and a crunchy mouth. Everything is in balance, the wine drinks easily and... that's what wine is for. No Le Pergole Torte but, who cares.

Tasting dinner at La Luna, Godalming. Abbreviated note taking. The weakest of the seven wines on show. Cherry aroma with hint of smoke; carried forward on to the palate but very lightweight and lacking character and any complexity. Lean and shortish. Sound but boring. Not for keeping I would suggest.

Ruby red and clear/translucent . Mild nose of cherry over-powered somewhat by an earthy flavor - mushrooms perhaps? Light feel n the mouth with mild red berry flavors and medium acidity. Nicely balanced. Shortish finish. Like others have said, nice refreshing drink, but not heavy, complex or showing any depth of flavors at the moment. Low oak treatment adds to lack of umph. In Chianti world, there is a purity to this wine, but it is not the most exciting and garners statements about QPR. It is kind of expensive for what it is. Lots of less expensive competition ou there. However, if purity is your game and are looking for subtle markers, this may be for you.

More straightforward and more fruit driven than 2008 and 2010 which I had earlier this summer. Quite smooth but bit of heat in the medium finish. The 2010 is clearly my favorite.

Light color and weight. Very supple black fruit and a hint of anise. Well balanced with little tannin to interfere with enjoying it over the short term. Very good.
