Pleasant and very smooth. Background very light acidity. Kirsch. Substantial and chewy. Some chocolate
After almost one month with argon in the bottle (2/3 left) - one hour decant, and it is different. Much more cote rotie for my taste. But very good CR, so one more point to 92. Hope I have a few more somewhere to try in coming years. This might get better.

Tasty, still a bit of tanginess/zip to the initial flavour. Nice red berry fruit, sour cherries, blackberries, pepper, licorice, cured salami/meat and herbal notes on the finish. Dusty but very vague tannins. Medium length finish. Some bitterness on mid palate to finish.

Blackish red, dense, edge looks fairly young. Large bq w black berries, white pepper, meat, stone dust, minerals, laurel, leather. Medium+ body w rounded tannins, nice dark fruit (both fresh and dried), nice acidity. Fairly long aftertaste, mainly w fruit and acidity. Some elegance, a "slimline Hermitage". Will last longer, but we doubt that it will get better.

Dried herbs, leather, cured meat, black pepper, dark fruit. Nicely developed, in a good place now. Full bodied, med + acidity. Not the longest finish, but all in all a very good wine, for a fraction of the price of the legendary domaine wines. Giving these about 10-15 years in the cellar makes perfect sense...

Tasted blind, very impressive nose, floral, rose, ripe plums, red cherries, dusty, iron, granite minerality. Palate is ripe, extremely elegant, lifted herbal note probably from whole cluster, lovely integrated oak. A Joy to drink!

On the nose fresh and expressive fruit but on the palate initially quite funky and flat, not giving much. With time things get a lot better and we get slightly sweet fruit, beef stock, olive brine, soy sauce, liquorice and a we bit of smoke. The nose also opens up but the difference is not as dramatic. Good lenght. Some maturity but still has up to 10 years left, I guesstimate. Very nice.

Opened two bottles. First one wonderful, pristine, lovely old-school Syrah with dark cherry-like fruit and a hint of leather, complex nose, succulent, well balanced, long after taste. The other one slightly off balance (a bit too much jam-like fruit) and not quite as charming and elegant as #1. The better one was truly awesome with lamb. It could have aged well quite a bit more.

The last of four bottles. Like the previous bottle leather and barnyard direct out of the bottle, with 2 hours airing lovely, dark fruit hold in check by well integrated tannins. Will probably hold for 3-5 years more.

Dark red color with meat, white pepper and dark fruit. Very good structure and well balanced fruit. A classic northern Rhone without the excess of fruit sometimes found in cheaper copies. High class bottle that drinks well now but will improve another 2-4 years.

Very fragrant and quite a bit more evolved on the nose than both 2008 and 2007. Complex but a little flabby on the palate, a bit heavy and drying. 88-90.

Ruby with some rust on the rim. On the nose, a fine balance of black- and raspberries, juniper, damp earth, mushrooms. It is a pronounced and complex aroma and occupies the glass well, and over several hours. The palate is quite well endowed with a good all-round structure, though some modest thinning on the mid-palate, and tanins are initially a touch drying. Med+ finish. Overall: elegant but with some swagger; very enjoyable.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. It smells like raspberry and black currant (cassis). It tastes like cedar and black pepper. The body is medium. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Monthly Tasting Group EEE #030; A mixed set from France (@ BD): Consistent with my previous notes. I can add that the sweetness is showing a bit more than last time, but there is perfect acidity to compensate. Good fruits, sweet spices. In fact this wine is still quite youthful. If I had any I would cellar it at least until 2018 - 2020, because I think it has the concentration and vitality to improve in complexity.

Ripe black fruits, blood, graphite and garrigue on the nose. Full bodied and chewy palate of rather ripe fruit. Black cherries, blackberries and prunes - if not raisins. Graphite, apple peel, liquorice, meat and woody notes. Long but slightly astringent finish with olive hints. Give it time and hope for the best.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #086; Syrah/Shiraz worldwide. (By BS): Slightly carmine rim. In the bouquet ripe cherries, raspberries and herbs and spices. On the palate dark and red fruits, some leather and minerals, firm acidity and sticky tannin. Certainly a very good wine, but overall it lacks a bit in finesse. Early maturity now.

Weekly tasting group #038; France: Rhône white and red. (@ BD): Beautiful and complex bouquet with some sweetness, minerals, spiciness and ripe Syrah grapes. On the palate juicy, ripe black fruits, minerals and spiciness. Gripping tannin. Well balanced and nice wine. Will probably improve a bit over the next 3 or 4 years.

Fullbodied with darkfruit and meat...almost aussie shiraz style on the nose, however the palate was more northern rhone with black olives, peppar. Tannins integrated well, quite acidic in positive way.
I am the type who prefers my northern rhone wines young where the character is more to the spicy and meaty style. By young I d like to think 4 years within the vintage...at least for crozes hermitage, cornas lesser cote roties and hermitage (such as this).

Terroir-istes International - France, Rhone, Hermitage (Rodwell House): Mid-deep garnet, the bouquet is not that intense but delivers mineral, crushed rocks, raw meat, and feral notes that build to a rather Bretty sweaty saddle complex. Full-bodied and quite powerful, with plenty of ripe fruits and notes of black plum and black raspberry. There is a fresh acidity underneath, but the top part is all about dried earth, truffles and feral Sauvage elements. There is a spicy note lurking in the wines. Feels muscular yet somewhat rustic in its approach. Long finish but didn't rock my boat.

Deep red, showing little development
Aromas of blackberries, raw meat and black olives. Opening up after some minutes in the glass.
On the palate the wine has good fruit and concentration, with fine balance and good length.
A nice "budget" Hermitage
