  • N.V. Lucien Albrecht Crémant d'Alsace Brut Rosé - France, Alsace, Crémant d'Alsace
(12%) 100% Pinot Noir – Salmon pink with an orange hue. Fine bubbles with (yeasty) strawberry fields forever with bright acidity and creamy bubbles (and a nice mousse) that are a touch sweet and a hint salty through a tart, clean and persistent finish. Beautiful, elegant and delightful. At $19 this sparkler from the Alsace certainly impresses. I see many more of these in my future…

  • 2010 Cave Vinicole de Kientzheim-Kaysersberg Pinot Blanc The Furst - France, Alsace
(12%) 100% Pinot Blanc – A touch spritzy with green apple skin flavors and light, citrus acidity followed by round melon, herbal spiced notes that linger on through the finish. While not bad (comes across as a bit plain) this one is innocuous enough that I’m likely to roll my $10 on finding something a little more interesting…

  • 2009 Gustave Lorentz Riesling Reserve - France, Alsace
(12.5%) As a quick FYI in the Alsace if it says Riesling it's 100%. So what do we have here? Nice, fragrant nose of sweet apple blossoms. The palate starts dry and clean here with stony minerality but with muted fruit before a pleasant spiced finish. Perhaps a bit disjointed this isn’t a favorite and certainly not worth $19. That said check out something like the Meyer-Fonné to see what this region is capable of…

  • 2009 Domaines Schlumberger Pinot Gris Les Princes Abbés - France, Alsace
(13.5%) 100% Pinot Gris (aka Pinot Grigio) – Great, slightly candied, peach/apricot blossomed nose. This one starts medium to full bodied and luscious on entry with loads of sweet peach and orange peel acidity. Rich with creamy, nectar sweetness throughout before a pleasant, mild acidity emerges and leads to a lingering finish with just a touch of heat and spice. Very well done and a perfect pairing with your next spicy meal…

  • 2008 Trimbach Gewurztraminer - France, Alsace
(14%) Electric nose with loads of sweet peach floral blossom aromas. The palate starts bright, juicy and spiced with zested citrus fruits before turning to a spiced, lingering, drying finish that seems to go on and on. Fantastic stuff here. Pricey at $20+ but well worth spending an evening with…
