2015 Tablas Creek Esprit Blanc de Tablas (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles Adelaida District) 4/28/2024jonahfactor

Must be an off bottle, given other recent CT tasting notes. Cellar-stored and a deeper gold than expected. Dull nuttiness on the palate. I might venture that this one was corked. (9 views)

2016 Tablas Creek Côtes de Tablas (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles Adelaida District) 3/28/2024VlgJeff87

Splash decant as we sat down to eat. The wine started out rather light -- in color, nose and palate -- and never really progressed from that. Maybe we're just too early as TC's Vintage Chart shows this wine at the end of its "drinking well: youthful" phase and about to enter its "drinking well: mature" phase. Light notes of strawberry, cherry and raspberry, touches of spice and oak, integrated tannins and relatively balanced acidity. Hopefully it will continue to develop, darken and deepen. (19 views)

2020 Tablas Creek Terret Noir (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles Adelaida District) 4/27/2024SingleTrackRide92

On the nose light aromatics with notes of cranberry and spice. On the palate super light mouthfeel, spicy, black tea, cranberry, watermelon rind, touch of strawberry and cardamom, light tannins and very short finish. (14 views)

2021 Tablas Creek Esprit de Tablas (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles Adelaida District) 4/26/2024jdjjadair

TC’s Production Notes:

The 2021 vintage came after a chilly, relatively dry winter, the exception being a single storm that dropped more than a foot of rain on us in late January. The cold, dry winter produced a fruit set with smaller clusters and smaller berries, and yields were down about 25% compared to our average. The growing season was ideal, with each hot stretch followed by a cool period that allowed the vines to recover, and that combined with the low yields to produce some of our most intense fruit ever and our highest average acids since the chilly 2011 vintage. We believe that 2021 has all the hallmarks of a blockbuster year.
As always, the Esprit is based on the red fruit and meatiness of Mourvedre (35%). The relatively equal proportions of Grenache (26%, for sweet spice and bright acids) and Syrah (23%, for dark color and savory, tannic richness) are a good indicator of the vintage's overall balance and quality. This also seeméd to be a great vintage to lean into three of our more trace varieties, and we used all our Vaccarese (7%, for black fruit and minerality) and Cinsaut (5%, for warm purple fruit and sweet spice) as well as 4% Counoise for vibrancy and wildness. This blend produced something both intense and fresh, complex and yet pure. The wine's components were selected for Esprit, blended in June 2022 and aged a year in foudre before bottling in August 2023.

2020 Tablas Creek En Gobelet (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles Adelaida District) 3/16/2024grafstrb

-- decanted approx. 30 min. before initial taste --
-- tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hrs. --
-- 37% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 22% Syrah, 11% Counoise, 5% Tannat --

NOSE: dark red berries, with slightly smoky/savory underpinnings.

BODY: dark ruby color; medium-light to medium bodied.

TASTE: juicy red fruits --- this speaks of Grenache; hint of smoky/savory carries from the Nose on to the palate; savory strawberry, and a touch leafy; 14.0% alc. well-hidden; medium concentration of fruit; light tannins and medium acidity; Drink Now and over the near term. I liked this well enough, but it was nearly $50 after club discount, and I can't honestly say I liked it any more than I would numerous CdRs at [less than] half the price. (195 views)

What KESKENAZI said. Did not decant and didn't seem to need it. It drank really well. Avoid pairing with foods with lots of black pepper. We paired this with tri-tip with Montreal-style steak seasoning, but thankfully didn't use a liberal amount. (217 views)
