Tasted by pmik on 7/19/2023 & rated 90 points: 90+. Vinnørd. Was expecting it to be dead, but still alive and kicking. Certainly past peak, but absolutely alive. Almost a desert wine for chees? (644 views)
Tasted by pmik on 1/12/2022 & rated 88 points: Vinnørd. Past peak! (1956 views)
Tasted by Jonahpla on 10/20/2021 & rated 91 points: Quite a punch. Deep blueberry elderberry blackberry flavors. Rich. (2328 views)
Tasted by heidoanddave on 6/8/2021 & rated 92 points: Big blue and black fruit. Big almost syrupy with a velvet finish. (2340 views)
Tasted by Dennis S on 4/26/2021: presumed drank (2425 views)
Tasted by VAVintner on 4/11/2021 & rated 92 points: Velvety and juicy. still great fruit (2082 views)
Tasted by Paul Lin on 11/28/2020 & rated 82 points: Sweet, syrupy notes of blueberry, black plum, and cola. Finishes on the bitter, alcoholic side. (1455 views)
Tasted by JimN on 11/24/2020 & rated 88 points: Meh. No reason to hold, as only going down from here. (1658 views)
Tasted by #1 or #2? on 7/14/2020 & rated 90 points: you pretty know much know what to expect when you open one of these. even this many years on, it's a big, juicy, viscous shiraz. almost syrupy. on the nose, dark blue and black berries, some dusty funky notes, pepper, and tar scents in behind. classic jammy shiraz. this was a big hit on the night. high appeal for those who like this sort of thing. (1103 views)
Tasted by Peech on 6/27/2020 & rated 88 points: very ripe, still alcoholic and hot, but smoother. Woodsy and cedar notes. (286 views)
Tasted by Paul Lin on 5/17/2020 & rated 85 points: Bold notes of blackberry, plum, and grilled meats. With much of the baby fat gone, the wine seems overdone. Bitter finish. Lots of heat on the finish. (1436 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 10/19/2019 & rated 91 points: Bllind Syrah (John's house): 30 minute decant, back into bottle for transportation, then decanted again and served blind. The concensus at the table was Australian. eucalyptus is evident. I found the style to be soft, friendly, accessible and somewhat flashy, which is consistent with the Mollydooker style. But the overall experience was better than Blue Eyed Boys I've had in the past. It appears these age better than I thought. (2047 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 10/18/2019 & rated 91 points: Blind Syrah From Anywhere (John's House, Mpls, MN): Very dark red with a 5mm margin. Double decanted for 30 minutes; drank a glass single blind over 3 hours. Roasted meats, black cherry, blueberry, blood, savory spices, iron, pepper, subtle eucalyptus on the nose. Full bodied and very soft on the palate, dark fruits that gradually emerge and show nice purity, black cherry, blackberry ssyrup, wood spices and pepper with a touch of scirched earth. This was drinking quite well. Picked this as my wine. I thought this was gonna be dead when I first tasted it, but 30 minutes of air made a huge difference. It got even better in glass over another hour and held up after that. 91+pts. (2209 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 10/18/2019 & rated 94 points: Worldwide Blind Syrah Tasting (3 Day Wine Review World Headquarters, Minneapolis, MN): Hosted a Blind Tasting of Syrah. Always fun to know what the wines are. Medium purple. Underbrush, spices, blueberries, coffee beans and subtle funk on the nose later on. This wine has aged well. My third favorite of the day. 92 points.
Day 3: Some left in the bottle. Black pepper, underbrush, spices and dark fruits. Still holding up.
Day 3.5: This is a really interesting wine on the last pour. Tar, crushed rock, blueberries on steroids, black pepper and violets. Really interesting and complex. Even better. 94 points
Recommendation: These are going to be good on a pop and pour but I still see five years of cellaring in its future. (2002 views)
Tasted by Eags25 on 7/26/2019 & rated 89 points: Still a very big with dark extracted fruit. Nose of smoke, violets and black & blue fruits. Age has softened the fruit but it's still big and extracted. Spicy on the finish. (1931 views)
Tasted by drmarclevine on 5/19/2019 & rated 93 points: Better-than-expected showing for the Blue-Eyed Boy. Our last bottle 9 months ago was borderline cloying and a bit syrupy but this bottle was in much better balance. A good shot of vanilla and sandal-wood on the nose but balanced by whiffs of roasted meat or, more precisely, grilled burgers. Lots of red fruit in the mouth with a solid bottom-end of Coca-Cola and charcoal. A well-knit package of spiciness and creaminess supporting each other. Medium-long finish. Very happy with this bottle. Enjoy now. (1734 views)
Tasted by seijaro on 3/2/2019 & rated 94 points: That's an average (sorta) of a 91, a 93, a 94, two 95's. Over the hill as a Syrah, but still quite lovely to drink. The fruit has mostly faded away, leaving a residue of cocoa and chocolate that is very enjoyable. It was a classic Molly Dooker fruit bomb in its day, but has evolved into a completely different wine. Some like it, some are not impressed. If you have any left, drink it up. (1671 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 2/28/2019 & rated 86 points: This was a bit of a newer version Shiraz, not plagued by the high alcohol, VA and overripe fruit of Shiraz' from the late 90's through the '00's. Cranberry and underbrush in the nose with flavors that included horse sweat (Brett?), pepper, blueberry. Not a great wine, drink now. I'm with Dougie, not a great wine and a terrible QPR after a decade holding but thankfully not overwrought like so many Shiraz' of this era. (1552 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 11/16/2018 & rated 91 points: Very dark color with a subtle 6mm transitional margin. PNP, split bottle over 3 hours plus. This starts off with blackberry, blue, blueberry, and boysenberry up front, there's a little roasted meat and savoriness, with some spice. The palate feels slightly liqueurish with Blackberry and blue fruits, but it really is medium plus body and while there's concentration this is lighter than expected, savory, graphite, pepper, medium finish. Very solid, no wood showing, well integrated tannins, and no hint of the 16% abv. Holding far better than an 05 from earlier this year. This should maintain for a year or two. 91 to 91+pts. (2470 views)
Tasted by lewisrise on 11/3/2018 & rated 95 points: Nose of fig and cinnamon. Blueberry and raspberry with a chocolaty finish. Finish lasts at least 30 seconds. This is a dense fruit bomb that's not too over the top (2062 views)
Tasted by drmarclevine on 9/19/2018 & rated 92 points: Nice showing. 1-hour decant. Blackberry pie and some spicy potpourri. Evolved as it came up to room temperature. Dense and chewy in the mouth with black plum compote but with enough acid to keep it out of cloying mode. Medium, blue-fruit finish. Right on the edge of over-ripeness but not over the edge. Drink now or short-term hold. (2194 views)
Tasted by dougie on 3/20/2018: Good for what it is. Not a good value for $50 and storing
for almost a decade. (2329 views)
Tasted by Genghis88 on 1/13/2017 & rated 92 points: Full bodied, ox-blood, high ABV wine
Red licorice, raspberries, oak, vanilla, POWERFUL fruit forward nose
Big and Bold, sweet plums, thick, viscous. Tastes like the nose.
There are also hints of eucalyptus and tar present.

This is a MASSIVE wine that compliments a big juicy flame broiled steak perfectly. It might be a little too big to drink sans food.
Although not really my style of wine, this wine is excellent. I can appreciate it. A nice change. Still lots of life left in this vintage.

Tasted by Henman on 5/27/2016 & rated 87 points: Strong mineral (licorice) and ripe dark fruit on the nose. Full bodied, dense and extracted, delivering loads of salt licorice and a bit of very ripe dark fruit with considerable heat on the finish. Rather smooth tannins. I do like robust and fruit driven wines, but this is on a different level. So concentrated and mineral driven, the super ripe fruit past its prime, lots of alcohol pushing through. I like it, but not as a red wine, more like a dry port or fortified wine. (5617 views)
Tasted by Stirling on 5/22/2016 & rated 88 points: It is difficult to do a proper tasting note on a wine like this. TNs need to be objective evaluations of a wine's quality, not just a recounting of the tasters personal preferences. This behemoth of a wine had tons of super-ripe flavor (blackberries and blueberries) and a nose to match. Definitely striving for a push the envelope style, it came across as out of balance to me. The fruit screamed so loudly you could not pick up any subtle nuances or complexity. The body was so full that it resembled a blueberry milkshake. And there was a quite notable heat from the alcohol. Simply too much for us, but we can see other palates taking a different view, if they like that style. www.advinetures.ca (5315 views)

(MOLLYDOOKER BLUE EYED BOY SHIRAZ) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very dark, beautiful chocolate rasinettes; baked cakes; TASTE-this is very good; brings an enormous amount of flavor (licorice, skittles, candy, Fruit Punch, Hi-C); very Over-the-Top & explosive; a little lacking in complexity; little dark coffee on the finish; really tasty; GV-91  91 points
