Tasted by jgreco on 2/2/2024 & rated 89 points: DM Wine Dinner (Canary Club, New York, NY): Pretty impressive for a 34 year old Champagne. Still has some effervescence and fruit. Though, this vintage has seen better days. (1020 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 1/28/2024 & rated 95 points: Krug Lover Dinner with Olivier Krug (Daniel Dal Ban 1876 (Tafelspitz) Düsseldorf): not blind
Best bottle I had from the regular vintage 1989. Slightly more evolved than the CdM. At his peak. No reason for longer waiting. 95 (1293 views)
Tasted by sh6k on 1/15/2024 & rated 99 points: Hello old friend. It’s amazing how every vintage every line of Krug has that same … Krug-ness. This one was showing beautifully with marzipan and rich toast and hazelnuts, but also the lemon line of Grande Cuvee showing lots of freshness. Showing age: the marzipan with whiffs of oily tire fire but otherwise nothing and certainly no mushrooms, forest floor etc. But the acid is still so powerful -- I can only imagine what it was like when new -- that it stays incedibly fresh and vibrant. It’s at a perfect maturity and hard to imagine what would make it better. (1096 views)
Tasted by eschaefer on 12/14/2023 & rated 97 points: Unreal. It was a head snapper for the crowd even after Cristal 2008 en magnum. Krug was a mag too. Bright golden straw color. Aromas of caramel, zesty green apple, lemon and dried apricot. Very similar palate but the zippy acidity brought forth some lemon zest. It was just such a pleasurable wine to drink. The texture was more of a rich older montrachet. Bubbles were still there but weren’t even necessary! So good. Highest recommendation (1113 views)
Tasted by Eric on 9/23/2023: Jason's birthday and old Bordeaux (Newcastle, WA): Mmm, mature Krug. What's not to love? This was delicious. (1756 views)
Tasted by hprphf on 9/4/2023 & rated 94 points: Magnum, served blind next to 85M. Actually feels older (or the 85 feels significantly younger), again with signature crazy high acidity, citrus, brioche, large in structure with years to go. 94+ (1405 views)
Tasted by jfpwine on 9/2/2023 & rated 93 points: Deep gold color. The nose suggest that the wines is advanced in its development., with bruised yellow apple, and some autolytic character. The plate is rich and creamy, on the opulent side, but balanced with a good acidity. Very long finish. Needs a bit of air to reveal itself. (1168 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 8/19/2023: similar to the '95 has just a few days prior, though a bit more advanced. Still with similar wicked acidity. Intense. This will last some while still but depending on how old you like your champagne now is a perfectly good time to crack open and enjoy. (1270 views)
Tasted by steinersing on 5/27/2023 & rated 96 points: Showing well, lovely tension and not too evolved. Bit of brioche and hints of nuts. (1610 views)
Tasted by mark2eye on 5/2/2023 & rated 100 points: Exactly what vintage Krug should be, especially given the vintage. Enjoyed over the birthday weekend in Dallas. Did not pair with anything but don't think anything would've been worthy of this bottle.

Lots of bubbles, nutty, brioche, and a fair hint of acid left in this 33 year old gem. Tertiary notes are starting to show but don't steal the show. (1651 views)
Tasted by acyso on 4/6/2023 & rated 93 points: BYOK with Olivier Krug at Next (Chicago, IL): Original release, from Olivier's private cellar and hand-carried over the Atlantic for this dinner. Disgorged 2006. It's pretty interesting how despite the undeniable perfect provenance of this bottle that it didn't age quite the same way as the 1990 Collection (which was disgorged almost a decade later in 2015). Like the 1985, this was quite fleshy and rounded, showing fully secondary characteristics, with browning (not in a bad way) fruit and more prominent nutty and nascent mushroom notes. I very much preferred the absolutely brilliant 1990 Collection alongside. (2254 views)
 Tasted by Travislee0113 on 2/16/2023 & rated 90 points: Tasted at Shahi-ren,
Paired with Dom Perignon 1990.
Pine mushroom, good sourness. (1735 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 12/30/2022 & rated 92 points: Fresh bottle that showed well, lively. (1915 views)
Tasted by jrh82 on 12/7/2022 & rated 91 points: Drunk during a big Krug vertical from 06 - 88. This 90 was showing its maturity, a bit tired, not as energetic as obviously 06, but neither as 96, 02, 04 etc. But there were some nice features there, nice fruit, suspect better bottles out there. (1705 views)
Tasted by hajoha on 11/21/2022 & rated 92 points: Krug 1990.
Tasted by grub94 on 10/28/2022: Off bottle. (1396 views)
Tasted by The Vines That Bind on 9/7/2022 & rated 93 points: Fully mature bottle but still pleasant drinking. Not unduly advanced but a somewhat tired example, not bracingly sharp. Rich oxidative style. Bruise apple, caramel, honey. Two bottles, consistent. 93- (1937 views)
Tasted by angelcyn on 9/5/2022: I can't boast that I have drunk many Krug or any other top cuvees of Champagne, but I have drunk five Krug vintages over the years before they became out of reach financially for good, all were pre the 1990.
This one was a lovely fine mousse version of golden hue, beautiful nose of lovely bready aromas and some stone fruit and citrus, mouthful of layered candied citrus i the mouth perfect acidity and still fresh, lovely bottle of bubbly for one who generally is not a Champagne lover, if I could afford to drink this it would be a better world, having said that the '59 I was so fortunate to taste was infinitely better, but it was almost certainly one of the top five wines I have ever drunk. (1568 views)
Tasted by maranoli on 8/9/2022 & rated 97 points: Medium Golden colour
Very light mousse
Intense nose, warm brioche with hint of white fruits
Palette of honey, vanilla, nectarine, apricot, butter/cream. Very gentle tickle of fizz, remained as the glass warmed. flavours intensified as wine opened over time. More lime/honey emerged.

Tasted by peternelson on 6/19/2022 & rated 93 points: Darker shimmering gold; fine creamy bubbles; Initial notes of praline, unsweetened toffee, shrooms, wet leaves, apricot pit, some forest floor notes; on the palate it was rich with good density, light creaminess, fine lightly foaming bubbles, good intensity and powerful long tangy yet earthy finish. Very nice, and in great shape for an old Champagne, but my feeling is that storage was probably not ideal (purchased a little after release I think in 2003, kept in my personal wine fridges over the years) This probably needed a more consistent resting place. Really liked this but not my fav Krug. Excellent before dinner with Manchego and other cheeses for Father's Day w/S&L (1929 views)
Tasted by tcosgriff on 3/21/2022 & rated 97 points: Krug seldom disappoints and this is another marvelous wine with a bouquet and flavor of bread, brioche, bread dough, and a bit of citrus.
Verly elegant with lovely bubbles, great depth, perfect balance and a lingering finish. Wonderful. (2251 views)
Tasted by Benoit Hardy on 2/16/2022 & rated 97 points: I have drunk this 1990 many times and have always had a little doubt about how this vintage would develop. Well this bottle reassured me.

Opulent nose of candied citrus fruits, apricots and toasted almonds.

Mouth that combines richness and freshness thanks in particular to a superb acidity integrated into an extremely dense and ripe juice. We obviously have this creamy touch, then the depth of the wine is surprising from the start: complex and layered on toasted and caramelized aromas mingled with orange peel, a splendid candied apricot and finally nuts. The balance is perfect and the wine looks much younger, numbers from 2000 are much older today. Sumptuous finish on toasted almond and coffee opening up for a mile.

My finest bottle of Krug 1990 to date, more vinous than 1988 and 1989 but which expresses itself fully with a character of its own. (2167 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 12/28/2021: honey, great citrus, impressive acidity. wow. mature yet very alive. (2268 views)
Tasted by grub94 on 10/14/2021 & rated 94 points: Why I love Krug. Lovely light gold color with fine mousse. Nose offers apricot, orange rind, brioche, and hints of baked green apple. Palate shows hefty acid balance by more apple, yeasty toast, apricot marmalade, roasted almonds with a long atony and saline finish. (2242 views)
Tasted by DAN BAILEY on 10/5/2021: Surprisingly young. Much younger than my bottles were a decade ago and even younger than the 96 bottle served alongside. A bit aofter on the palate though due to less petillance. (709 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
