Out of a half bottle

PNP, this wine is very aromatic. In the glass a garnet and a palate very mature with tertiary flavors. Was a fun wine to contrast the 09 Hourglass with the 18 Blueline Merlot.

If you like a mature wine this one is pretty good. (2363 views)
Tasted by ChrisGiggles on 4/10/2021 & rated 92 points: Great balance of CA cab aromas and dark berry fruit flavors. I love the smells, and I especially enjoy the eucalyptus that Blueline brings. Delightful! (1031 views)
Tasted by DBenke on 10/31/2020 & rated 94 points: Delicious in VA (1049 views)
Tasted by Vitis Maximus on 5/27/2019 & rated 93 points: Me likey, still a great wine. Lots of dark blue and red crimson fruits are swirled together. Great dusky nose. Drank over 2 days and even better the 2nd. Not in any way a 2nd to the namesake wine. It stands alone and is equally forceful in this vintage. Go get one if you can. (1584 views)
Tasted by Bcw1989 on 12/9/2018 & rated 91 points: Excellent wine. Coravined several months ago so I finished the bottle. Big juicy California Cab. Lots of red fruits and seemed to be losing its gripping tannins. Still has plenty of years left to lay down and cellar for a long time. Went superbly with or without fruit. Enjoyable experience.  Tasted by Corrie on 5/18/2015 & rated 90 points: Felt the wine had lost something, good not great which I expect for this wine and price point. (3067 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 4/25/2014 & rated 82 points: This opaque crimson wine was tasted in single-blind fashion, with the bottle generously provided to our tasting group by T.R. Ripe boysenberries (reminiscent of pancake syrup) dominate the nose and palate, leaving little room for anything else. Full-bodied, round and loaded with alcoholic heat (15.5%), this is not a Cabernet for the faint of heart. Ripe fruit and heat persist throughout the middle palate and medium-length finish, which also shows substantial tannic grip. There will be fans of this heavily extracted wine, but for me it is simply over-the-top. I doubt that cellaring will be helpful, as this wine is lacking balance. Drink now-2019. (3511 views)
Tasted by Phowarth212 on 9/6/2013 & rated 88 points: Very nice but many options at this price or lower (3752 views)
Tasted by Gabe on 7/13/2013 & rated 93 points: Enjoyed this, nose of blackberries and vanilla, incredibly soft mouthfeel with forward fruit, vanilla, black fruit, and expresso. Finish is not as long as I'd expect from this producer. (3585 views)
Tasted by CK6865 on 4/30/2013 & rated 90 points: Decanted 6 hours, lots of red fruits, nice pour, but for the price will not be buying again. (3782 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 12/25/2012 & rated 89 points: Jammy red and dark berries, soft textures with noticeable heat and some dryness in finish. (3343 views)
Tasted by Rafili on 12/9/2012 & rated 93 points: - Garnet color with fast forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a long finish - Incredibly soft tannins, fruit forward yet balanced cab. Opened two hours before getting to the restaurant and another hour in the glass and it just continued to get nicer and nicer. As refined a wine as you will find in California. (1658 views)
Tasted by Rafili on 12/9/2012 & rated 94 points: - Garnet color with slow forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a long finish - Beautifully refined and balanced. Opened two hours before getting to the restaurant and left in the glass another hour and it just kept developing and getting nicer. Very soft tannins and as elegant as anything you will find in California. (2099 views)
Tasted by Lutz on 7/2/2012 & rated 92 points: Great aromas of red fruits, cherry, but also espresso, chocolate and oak. Great drinking pleasure and very much to enjoy!!! (2055 views)
Tasted by alwebb2000 on 4/27/2012 & rated 88 points: Tasted at Wally's Napa tasting. Very nice red fruit intensity up front, fades on the mid-palate without much of a finish. For ripe, fruity, vanilla and oak.. you may enjoy this. Others in our group did. We were not fans especially at this price point. (2325 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
