Tasted by OldHick95 on 11/18/2023 & rated 92 points: Granny smith apples, warmed lemon juice, notes of lime zest. Finishes with golden pear flavors. Yeast notes are barely present. The style is crisp and cleansing. (920 views)
Tasted by Samos Vineyard on 4/8/2023: From our wedding. Love it (1779 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 3/17/2023 & rated 94 points: Different and better than previous bottles and vintages for some reason. Had those brioche and nutty flavors I love. Deep wine with a long finish. Was really good. (1667 views)
Tasted by YackAttack213 on 2/2/2023 & rated 88 points: 88 Feb 2023 👃 very bready with ripe apple 👅 not too bubbly which is nice sometimes as it allows better tasting. Apple, lemon pith. Less complexity than a big house NV champagne but pretty decent. Similarly priced to a NV champagne though so doesn't work from a value perspective. Would not buy again. (936 views)
Tasted by CubFan4Life on 1/1/2023 & rated 92 points: This wine punches way above its price. Good complexity, many subtle notes. No harshness at all and at $35 this is an absolute steal. Popped and poured at midnight for NYE (1851 views)
Tasted by dcox100 on 12/31/2022: Notes of lemon. Above average sparkling wine (1323 views)
Tasted by PSPatrick on 12/4/2022 & rated 91 points: Bought at 55th Street Wine & Spirits in Manhattan. Restrained nose. Also a little closed on the palate at first, but opened up over time. Medium to light lemon colour, with fine perlage. Floral notes, lemon, lime, green apple, almond, biscuit, brioche, light smoke, light chalk, and a hint of creamy vanilla, with fresh acidity and great persistence. The mousse is perceived as medium-fine to fine and creamy. Quite harmonious. Just keeps getting better! (1622 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 11/7/2022 & rated 93 points: Thoroughly bright, minerally, and tightly wound. The longer it sat the more layers it revealed. Citrus, limes, and quince, with shades of white flowers and herbs. Lovely energy and balance, picking up chalky intensity on the long finish. (593 views)
Tasted by AlphaMikeFoxtrot on 7/7/2022 & rated 89 points: Toasted almonds (especially prominent on the nose), lemon, navel orange, fresh apple, pear, fresh white bread. Nice mouthfeel, agreeable bubbles. Medium + body and pretty linear. A great QPR at $31. (2023 views)
Tasted by Stephan O on 7/3/2022: Always a good buy. Didn't take careful notes, but it seemed consistent with other vintages of Schramsberg's BdB, especially in the liveliness department. (1727 views)
Tasted by PSPatrick on 6/22/2022 & rated 91 points: Bought at 55th Street Wine & Spirits in Manhattan. Medium to light lemon colour, with fine perlage. Restrained nose. Light floral notes, citrus, lemon, light orange, apple, biscuit and bread crust notes, with good acidity and good length. The mousse is comprised of medium-sized bubbles and perceived as lightly creamy. Good balance already. Should round off further and became more integrated with another year in the cellar. (1727 views)
Tasted by cucycling on 6/20/2022 & rated 92 points: I lovely crisp sparkling wine nice effervescence. Tart green apples with a very clean finish. Enjoyed with smoked salmon appetizer (1565 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 6/12/2022 & rated 92 points: Always lovely and great value!! (1506 views)
Tasted by xyc on 5/13/2022 & rated 92 points: A superb quite well-balanced sparkler displaying ripe Chardonnay with delicate lemon, yeast, mineral, hazelnut and more. PKBowen has an impressive note with details.
As for some other reviews, this is not sweet; charming is not sweet.
It is not austere, acidic nor extra bone dry nor meant to be.
It is delicious and a super qpr. (1218 views)
Tasted by randro on 5/3/2022 & rated 90 points: Very good, apples, lemon and nice bubbles. Sweet but not overpowering (1180 views)
Tasted by SH Wu on 4/10/2022 & rated 86 points: An easy to drink lemon cream pastry. There's a dry and short finish that ends this on a pleasant note. Drank with spicy Korean food and worked well. (1348 views)
Tasted by Sir Lee on 3/27/2022: Semi dry, quick finish, medium fruit. (1240 views)
Tasted by Shatik on 3/27/2022 & rated 92 points: Smelled pear, tasted baked apple. Round finish. (1362 views)
Tasted by bavaur on 2/27/2022 & rated 91 points: Fresh fruits and a little dough on the nose. Crisp and mineral on the palate. Another great BdB, superb QPR. (1140 views)
Tasted by pkbowen on 2/21/2022 & rated 90 points: Med straw color with green highlights. Copious tiny bubbles. Affable nose of lemon curd, orange peel, pear, buttery croissant, and white pepper. Entry has lots of fine, soft bubbles which persist remarkably long, round and viscous entry, and soft lemon-orange chiffon. Mid has a strong lemon drop/hard candy flavor and broad, tingling acid. Med finish with a touch of white stone minerality. Overall a friendly, round, well-executed wine. Drink now through 2024? Maybe longer. Very good to excellent 90. (1277 views)
Tasted by boozebythecreek on 2/17/2022: I’m not sure how Bottle King sells this for under $30 a bottle, but it’s a steal at that price. Unbelievable QPR. (1140 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 2/6/2022 & rated 85 points: I respect what Schramsberg is doing but this is not good. Something almost like VA on the nose and a flat sweetness to the palate. Add orange juice. (1097 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 1/1/2022 & rated 90 points: A fun alternative to French tonight & last night. Balanced & tasty with all the desired markers of a good BdB. Paid $34 locally. (1377 views)
Tasted by Wine2372 on 12/31/2021 & rated 92 points: Soft and creamy, with tart quince and pineapple. Round and clean. (1135 views)
Tasted by WineJ2019 on 11/27/2021 & rated 91 points: To quote a recent tasting note that I saw here: “the QPR king”! (That was in reference to Kirkland Barolo, but I will give it this wine in the bubbly class) (1101 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
