Tasted by Decanting Queen on 1/6/2024: Not sure where this bottle came from, found it in the cellar but not in my CT which is usually up to date. A nice bonus bottle, drinking well and really enjoyable. Did not need much decant. Integrated and tasty entry level Napa cab which was shockingly better than the ‘18 G3 alongside of it. (1813 views)
Tasted by vitroman on 10/15/2023 & rated 91 points: Very round and drinking great! Still has time to age. (992 views)
Tasted by YankeeRobio on 7/9/2023 & rated 95 points: Stunning wine. Rich, decadent, plush tannic structure. Blackberry, ripe plum/prune, smokey licorice, raw blueberry pipe tobacco. Full throttle wine with great depth. (1222 views)
Tasted by Decanting Queen on 5/6/2023: Drank this a few weeks ago with a 60 min decant and it was drinking well. I can’t remember the details but it wasn’t mind blowing and we weren’t disappointed either. Pretty well balanced and nice fruit… (2132 views)
Tasted by TastesGoodToMe on 1/17/2023 & rated 94 points: Sadly my last bottle of the case. And wouldn't you know, this was the best bottle yet. Mike Smith always said to drink the NV in the first 5 years while waiting for the SV bottlings to come together. So I have not waited on these NVs usually for this long - perhaps I should also start letting them lay down longer as well becuase this was amaze-balls (official wine term). (2012 views)
Tasted by GRoz on 12/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Killer (1238 views)
Tasted by Jonathan T on 10/14/2022 & rated 94 points: This may be an unpopular opinion but I actually enjoyed this bottle today more than a 12 Myriad Crane a few months ago. I should have bought more of this! 3 bottles certainly wasn’t enough! (1439 views)
Tasted by gogiants925 on 8/16/2022 & rated 94 points: Same impressions for earlier this year. Very solid Napa cab at a really good price point. (1543 views)
Tasted by t_moderne on 8/13/2022 & rated 93 points: Opened and poured. Tasted on a sailboat.
Dark purple color.
Nose offers dark fruits - black cherries, plums and blackberries.
Good rich fruit in the intro. Some dusty notes follow on the mid-palate. Tannins present but not obtrusive.
A delicious wine that speaks "Napa Cabernet." (1504 views)
Tasted by TastesGoodToMe on 6/28/2022 & rated 93 points: I have really enjoyed these Myriad 16 NV cabs over the last 4 years. This was no exception. These are great and ready to go on a PnP. (2076 views)
Tasted by cab blends on 1/14/2022 & rated 87 points: TRB and MS Blind Tasting; 1/14/2022-1/23/2022: Dark red in color. Light perfume. FS79

NS HL 2.5 FD 3 AS 2 (2476 views)
Tasted by gogiants925 on 1/8/2022 & rated 94 points: Opened at home and re-corked after an hour to take to the restaurant. Once there, pulled the cork and it sat for another hour or so.

Very solid cab, nose of blackberry and cherry with some coffee/cocoa notes. On the palate, sweet cherry, more blackberry and currant. Tannins were smoothed out and well integrated. Nice long finish. Very enjoyable, got thumbs up from the crowd. Wish I got more than a glass and a half.

For a stellar Napa cab, the price point (around $60-$70) is unbelievable. I have 2 more bottles, and I'd say it's drinking great now, and probably at it's peak for another 4 years, but can go beyond that another 6 or so before it starts to head down the other side of the hill. (1912 views)
Tasted by wendyinwlv on 12/11/2021 & rated 93 points: Very good, drinking well now. Nice rounded flavors with dark fruit showing (1844 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 12/4/2021: Dark colored. Nose of sweet red currant and sweet oak.
Creamy mouth feel with BlackBerry and black currant fruit wrapped in a chocolate coating. (2087 views)
Tasted by Nutty08 on 10/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Dense, with red and black currants and some well judged vanilla cream. Smooth and plush, with some fine tannin on the finish. Delicious. Held up well over 3 night, alcohol only mildly apparent (2108 views)
Tasted by vitroman on 6/8/2021 & rated 92 points: Dark fruit, cassis and some oak. Long finish, open for 24 hours and better with more air. (2298 views)
Tasted by fred o. on 3/13/2021: Dark violet.
Nose dark fruited, some herbal notes.
Palate plush, dark fruited, silky and opens up with time. Some slight herbal Cabernet notes as it sits. Appealing and approachable. 91 pts (1140 views)
Tasted by JLuch1 on 11/4/2020 & rated 93 points: Decided to open this after just having a 2017 G3 and see how they compare. Gave the wine similar treatment, drank half the bottle day 1 after a couple hour decant and second half on day two. Wine performed well in both cases and was still lively on day 2.

Blackberry, currants, chocolate chunk still present themselves as dominant flavors and there is a nice balance to this wine. Excellent silky mouthfeel and a pleasant, moderately long finish.

While perhaps lacking some additional complexity you will get from the G3, I did enjoy this wine a bit more by comparison. It’s just in a better spot, is more balanced and has better texture. (3206 views)
Tasted by Yack Man on 10/24/2020 & rated 93 points: 92-93 Points good cab and a solid value. Day 2, this one showed better with food by a point. (3494 views)
Tasted by Papillon1112 on 9/7/2020 & rated 93 points: I’m going to join all the other 2020 CT notes and agree it’s a great wine at a very approachable price point. Sure PNP but a 90 minute decant tames the wine from jumping out of the glass. Bravo to Team Smith! (3060 views)
Tasted by YankeeRobio on 8/22/2020 & rated 93 points: Really nice wine, good QPR for a Mike Smith wine (2847 views)
Tasted by Justinwine on 7/31/2020 & rated 92 points: Really good , easy drinking. (2668 views)
Tasted by TastesGoodToMe on 7/22/2020 & rated 93 points: So good. Great balance, depth and flavor. Excellent QPR (2879 views)
Tasted by greg@newsomehh.com on 3/17/2020 & rated 93 points: Didn't decant enjoyed during quarantine, solid right out of bottle (3071 views)
Tasted by TastesGoodToMe on 3/2/2020 & rated 93 points: Solid. No need to wait on these, they are ready to go in my opinion. PnP and this was great from first to last sip. (3427 views)

2016 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

from release newsletter:

A combination of five pedigreed Napa Valley vineyards, the ‘Myriad Napa’ is hitting all cylinders in 2016. A later harvest than previous drought years, twenty-sixteen gave us more subtle heat spikes and even ripening across the valley. The peak performance and the mix of four separate prominent Napa Valley AVA’s marry together gorgeously producing a striking and pure Cabernet Sauvignon. Red and blue fruits combine with an upfront and bold entry that is round and plush. Traditional Rutherford dust tannins fill the mid palate with hints cocoa powder, marionberry and detailed clove spice characters. Rich layers of dark chocolate followed by slight forest floor notes glide into a beautiful long and lingering finish. Enjoy this early drinker over the next 1-6 years, while waiting for the single vineyard Cabernets to hit their stride

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
