Tasted by portman63 on 4/24/2021 & rated 91 points: I think I can't really improve on the review by HUSE, as my experience was very similar. I did get more of a cherry/blackberry preserves fruit element and slightly less of the herbal or wood tones, and with the tannins mostly as sediment in the sides/bottom of the bottle. This was mostly due to a need to decant after the cork basically disintegrated for the bottom 2/3. Both at the opening and at the end the wine was a little overwhelming on it's own but was a solid foil for wagyu burgers with gorgonzola. (987 views)
Tasted by D'Yquembe Mutumbo on 4/24/2021 & rated 95 points: What a pleasant surprise this wine was for us over the weekend. Punching way above its weight, the nose was very French with musty notes, dark berries, warm spices. Absolutely right up my alley, and a treat. The palate was a big wave of blackberries, kirsch, leather, a bit of smoke around the perimeter with a nice, long finish that stuck with you. The kind of wine you feel like you can still taste the next day, that's how long it stuck with you.

Would buy again if I can find it, very good stuff and still has years of life ahead. (1111 views)
Tasted by huse on 1/27/2021 & rated 92 points: A very fine, feminine southern Rhône wine (100 percent Grenache) sourced from a small vineyard plot situated at the foot of the mountain range 'Dentelles de Montmirail' (limestone and marl soils). The wine is at its peak now (perhaps a bit past its best). It was aged for twelve months in oak barrels (50 percent new, 50 percent second use). Slightly evolved ruby-red in color and a lovely bouquet offering scents of mature cherries, licorice, sweet spices and some hints of rosemary and sandalwood. The rich and well-balanced palate displays luscious blackberry and plum fruit, a wonderful finesse and silky textured tannins. Long harmonious finish. I wouldn't wait more than two years to drink this vintage.

(2783 views)
Tasted by tantotinto on 3/13/2019 & rated 94 points: Same as the last bottle. The 2007's are in a very good place right now. (1549 views)
Tasted by tantotinto on 10/29/2018 & rated 94 points: As smooth and elegant as our last bottle but more expressive. Ripe raspberry, spice, black tea and chalky mineral note. A beautiful wine. Tasted immediately after decanting. Zalto Burgundy glass seemed to give it a helpful lift. (1636 views)
Tasted by tantotinto on 8/23/2018 & rated 93 points: Tasted an hour after decanting. Floral, ripe fruit and garrigue on the nose. Ripe raspberry, brine and a touch of cinnamon. Smooth and elegant. At this point it lacks the depth of expression of the Hominis Fides and Le Claux. More time may help but I suspect that in this vintage it will always fall short of its siblings. A beautiful wine nonetheless. (1098 views)
Tasted by Frank Schneider on 12/15/2016 & rated 92 points: Drank beside the les Claux. Needed some air. very nice gigondas with medium body and good grip. maybe lacking the backbone of the les Claux. Has years to go. Hold 92 + (1944 views)
Tasted by wurzel68 on 3/28/2012 & rated 93 points: Toller Wein! Leider ohne Notizen; aber noch Abwarten angesagt! (3746 views)
Tasted by Charlie Carnes on 5/26/2010: A beautiful wine that needs time. No formal notes as I was not concentrating much by this time. (3613 views)
Tasted by syoungrv on 12/26/2009 & rated 94 points: Amazing. Gorgeous purple and red fruit on the nose with minerality and a touch of Christmas spice. Incredible on the palate too. Velvetty smooth with flavours of red plum and crushed berries. Lovely minerality as well. Finish is exceptionally long and delicious. Still young and needed one helluva decant (I opened it at 9 in the morning and served it at 5...) Lovely wine, but wait to enjoy it! (3757 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
