  • What a pleasant surprise this wine was for us over the weekend. Punching way above its weight, the nose was very French with musty notes, dark berries, warm spices. Absolutely right up my alley, and a treat. The palate was a big wave of blackberries, kirsch, leather, a bit of smoke around the perimeter with a nice, long finish that stuck with you. The kind of wine you feel like you can still taste the next day, that's how long it stuck with you.

Would buy again if I can find it, very good stuff and still has years of life ahead.

  • I think I can't really improve on the review by HUSE, as my experience was very similar. I did get more of a cherry/blackberry preserves fruit element and slightly less of the herbal or wood tones, and with the tannins mostly as sediment in the sides/bottom of the bottle. This was mostly due to a need to decant after the cork basically disintegrated for the bottom 2/3. Both at the opening and at the end the wine was a little overwhelming on it's own but was a solid foil for wagyu burgers with gorgonzola.

  • A very fine, feminine southern Rhône wine (100 percent Grenache) sourced from a small vineyard plot situated at the foot of the mountain range 'Dentelles de Montmirail' (limestone and marl soils). The wine is at its peak now (perhaps a bit past its best). It was aged for twelve months in oak barrels (50 percent new, 50 percent second use). Slightly evolved ruby-red in color and a lovely bouquet offering scents of mature cherries, licorice, sweet spices and some hints of rosemary and sandalwood. The rich and well-balanced palate displays luscious blackberry and plum fruit, a wonderful finesse and silky textured tannins. Long harmonious finish. I wouldn't wait more than two years to drink this vintage.

  • Same as the last bottle. The 2007's are in a very good place right now.

  • As smooth and elegant as our last bottle but more expressive. Ripe raspberry, spice, black tea and chalky mineral note. A beautiful wine. Tasted immediately after decanting. Zalto Burgundy glass seemed to give it a helpful lift.
