Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 14 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by portman63 on 8/15/2022 & rated 88 points: Glad I drank this now. It has some freshness left at the start and decent apple/pear fruit, but is showing more secondary elements with the oak still there and then it falls off a bit after an hour or so. It is a nice wine, I just think my last two bottles indicated it peaked a couple of years ago. (704 views)
Tasted by Crispin on 8/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Stunning. Ageing beautifully. (948 views)
Tasted by Thoughtful on 8/15/2020 & rated 92 points: Butter oaky bouquet. Full bodied, intense, good fruit with balanced oak.
No sign of oxidation. Well rounded excellent length. Lacks finesse. (1200 views)
Tasted by jasonmoy on 9/24/2019 & rated 92 points: Mineral and hint of fruit. Really enjoyed it. (1341 views)
Tasted by Crispin on 7/12/2019 & rated 92 points: Lovely nose. Fresh fruit. Balanced. Rich enough but still easy drinking. (1324 views)
Tasted by djdaqm on 2/6/2019 & rated 91 points: Starting to show some signs of premature oxidation, but nice round palate and balanced acidity. Some burnt sugars on the back end. (1361 views)
Tasted by xena on 6/22/2015 & rated 93 points: Seems to be at its peak. (3557 views)
Tasted by BillyT on 9/14/2014 & rated 91 points: Dinner at Hemmingway's in Cascais Portugal. GREAT restaurant, highly recommend and owner Sommelier Pedro is very knowledgable. Service, food and ambience definitely worth of Micheline star. The one is outstanding with good full body, bright but subdued acidity saying lay me down. Good balanced flavors of vanilla cream, some suggest buttered toast but the problem is there is no toast only butter. Establishes early on the palate its identity if you are familiar with this producer and sustaines its flavor profile of citrus and tropical fruit through the finish. Worthy of purchasing if you can find. (4034 views)
Tasted by Fatty Cat on 8/1/2014 & rated 93 points: Restaurant Chateau Courban, early Aug 2014: golden color; butter, caramel and slightly lemon aromas and flavors; medium/full body; smooth, polished texture. (1658 views)
Tasted by rcrisa on 3/2/2014 & rated 92 points: Vanilla notes; lovely oak (4032 views)
Tasted by FrankWols on 6/6/2013 & rated 90 points: 2009 was a rich vintage. This Chardonnay is made in the creamy-style and contains a lot flavours like butter, vanilla, oak and lots of fruit and flowers. High on intensity, strong flavours and power. (4837 views)
Tasted by xwine on 5/10/2012: Tasting at Domaine Chandon de Briailles and Maison Jadot (Savigny-lès-Beaune and Beaune): Lovely florals on the nose, apples, white and yellow fruit; very nice palate, good length, touch of wood but not at all obtrusive. Excellent 2009. (5712 views)
Tasted by vegasoenophile on 3/8/2012 & rated 88 points: Very light oak on the nose. Slight buttered toast along with tropical fruit and lychee. On the palate, it's crisp and lithe with mineral, stony flavors. Not much complexity. It has a nutty, lychee aftertaste with some light butter. (3719 views)
Tasted by KVM on 5/21/2011 & rated 85 points: Floral, honey nose. Floral and round fruit meant for early drinking (3202 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
