| Community Tasting Notes (average 92.2 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 8/19/2019 & rated 92 points: Excellent showing. Youthful and structured, with buttery aromas of orchard fruit, glazed peaches, brioche, and a kiss of vanilla. It shows concentration and intensity yet it’s impressively balanced and restrained, with juicy acidity and a tactile mouthfeel providing tension and delineation to the expansive fruit flavors. Orange zest and a wisp of toast build and linger on the long, vibrant finish. Lovely and will get better with time. (1499 views) | | Tasted by mjgkng on 1/27/2019 & rated 88 points: Pear and apple. (912 views) | | Tasted by msuwine on 12/17/2018 & rated 92 points: This is solid Chardonnay for the money: it has a pleasant steely and creamy quality that becomes apparent after an hour of air. Light yellow in color and medium in body, the wine offers aromas of green apple, saline, almond extract. Tastes of lemon peel, pear, gooseberry, and vanilla bean, with a bright and lingering finish that still maintains the wine's creamy, almost oily mouthfeel. 14.5% alcohol.
This grew on me with air, so give it some time to open up. It's not incredibly original or edgy, but it is a well-made, classy, and widely-available CA wine for about $40 - so absolutely no complaints here. Given the acidity and structure, this may be even better in a year or so. (2493 views) | | Tasted by Thelimit97 on 5/3/2018 & rated 97 points: FAntastic smooth taste (1063 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa / SonomaSONOMA: The Yorkville Highlands AVA, approved in 1998, is located in the southwestern corner of Mendocino County, between Sonoma County's Alexander Valley to the South and Mendocino County!s Anderson Valley to the North. The region is 25 miles long, roughly in the shape of rectangle and bisected by Highway 128 which runs the length of the AVA. The region!s terrain is hilly and forested, with elevations ranging from 1,078 to 2,442 feet above sea level. The distinguishing features of the Yorkville Highlands AVA are rocky soils with a high gravel content and the climate, which is cooler than Alexander Valley but warmer than Anderson Valley, and significantly cooler at night than the surrounding areas.CarnerosStraddles the southern ends of Napa & Sonoma Counties. |
