Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 94.3 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 150 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by TWSA on 5/3/2024 & rated 92 points: Nose: cashew nuts, honey, tangerine oil, biscuits, hints of plum
Notes: consumed after opening for 40 minutes and this is performing very nicely. I originally thought this would be way too young but this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. A big young and nutty nose with a nice saltiness in the aftertaste, this is a complex and refined Champagne that can certainly age for a long time but starting to show greatness even when consuming today.

Tasted by aquacongas on 4/24/2024 & rated 94 points: not blind, at the winery with Olivier Krug
Great to drink at the moment. Ripe fruits, balanced. 94 (949 views)
Tasted by ubercuvee on 4/14/2024: Not as flabby as most 06s and still showing good freshness, but I found the white chocolate notes the vintage imparts a bit offputting for my palate. A strong effort for the vintage but not worth the $$s for me (1078 views)
Tasted by AaronMaxwell on 4/6/2024 & rated 95 points: Stellar. Enjoyed at Benu in the most delicate champagne coupes I’ve ever used. Bright pineapple and lemon citrus with a round but precise body. (1181 views)
Tasted by The_Cat on 3/11/2024 & rated 97 points: Dark golden color full of brioche butter croissant and ripe pineapple fine bubbles full bodied and excellent length (1642 views)
Tasted by vvWine.ch on 3/1/2024 & rated 94 points: (48% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 17% Pinot Meunier) Mittleres Gelb, intensive Perlage. (1524 views)
Tasted by N.Bonaparte on 2/2/2024 & rated 95 points: 2nd of 6. About 2 years since my last bottle. This was spectacular. A very well balanced wine that developed nicely throughout dinner. A rounder Krug compared to 02 and 08. Those vintages still have too much energy and need time. This is in or near its prime and should drink nicely for a few decades. The finish on this lasted for minutes. This paired very well with caviar and pompano. Revisit 2026 (2153 views)
 Tasted by Philip_Bundpropperne on 1/29/2024 & rated 94 points: Rating: 4,4/5,0. (2212 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 1/28/2024 & rated 94 points: Krug Lover Dinner with Olivier Krug (Daniel Dal Ban 1876 (Tafelspitz) Düsseldorf): not blind
Not my favourite vintage, but in a nice drinking window now. Some exotic fruits together with the roasted nuts. 94 (2283 views)
Tasted by Oli_Vilmo on 1/19/2024 & rated 92 points: Still too young (1664 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 1/15/2024 & rated 90 points: Not a fan of 06 Champagne including Krug. Chunky fruit with low freshness and vibrancy. (2165 views)
Tasted by Christoph Tholen on 1/5/2024 & rated 99 points: Wow! Er entwickelt sich toll mit der Zeit. Lieber noch ein paar Jahre liegen lassen! (1757 views)
Tasted by bookert on 12/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Started strong and open, but faded over a few hours. (2151 views)
Tasted by Alex Barbera on 11/19/2023 & rated 94 points: Heute sehr zurückhaltend- aber was für ein Potential (2343 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 11/18/2023 & rated 93 points: Krug tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne
Clear, pale golden color. Nice, fresh and youthful nose, a bit closed.
On the palate very precise, elegant, round and creamy, fine mineral notes, extract sweetness. Lacks a bit of pressure and tension to be really great, especially after the truly great 08 Comtes. But it has upscale potential. 93+ (2392 views)
Tasted by cos65 on 11/16/2023 & rated 94 points: Lovely, huge crisp fruit,
Some grapey almost concord flavors.
Lovely balance (2140 views)
Tasted by Oli_Vilmo on 11/6/2023 & rated 94 points: Fruity, apple (2581 views)
Tasted by RobinTeo on 11/3/2023 & rated 93 points: Pardon the brevity, I don't drink enough champagne!

Single blind but bottles pulled at random.

Fresh brioche, cream soda, lemon rind and grapefruit. Fantastic tension and precision albeit slightly nervy. Felt like a first day in a new school type of energy - long run way for sure and definitely the youngest of the flight (went up against a 03 and 96) (740 views)
Tasted by palfr2 on 11/3/2023: Liz's B-Day Dinner at Singapore Swimming Club - Krug Vintage Vertical (Singapore Swimming Club): Krug Vintage vertical spanning Collection 1988/1996/1998/2000/2002/2003/2004/2006. Blind tasting. Not showing much. Acidity very much on display. Brawny on the finale. This screamed 'way too young' to me and unsurprisingly was the youngest wine on reveal. It is mostly potential at the moment. Best approached in a further 5-10 years (2304 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 10/30/2023 & rated 95 points: Not blind, at the maison
Perfectly to drink it now. Lush and pleasant. Not for the eternity but great to enjoy over the next 10 years. Together with Emmanuel Brochet’s vintage the best expression of this not beloved vintage. 94-95 (2335 views)
Tasted by Bubbly Babes on 10/30/2023 & rated 95 points: Sparkle Ball: Reception with Chicken-fried oyster and caviar. As always, Krug is just hard to beat. (1904 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 10/29/2023 & rated 96 points: Ojai Food + Wine Festival; 10/26/2023-10/29/2023 (Ojai Valley Inn): A cool year in champagne still produced an excellent vintage of Krug. (2164 views)
Tasted by EM_MB on 10/7/2023 & rated 90 points: Disappointing, especially given the price point. PNP and drank over 2 days. Way too tightly wound, and my sense is, may not necessarily improve from here. (2132 views)
Tasted by Frank Schneider on 9/12/2023 & rated 93 points: Slightly disappointed ! No real fun. Very serious and tragic in the mouth. Sad bottle ? No cork ! Good not great (2259 views)
Tasted by englishman's claret on 8/27/2023: Similar to prior; great again. Drinking so well now, fresh on the nose and briochey in the mouth. Lovely. (2904 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
