Tasted by BHRH on 2/12/2024 & rated 90 points: Quick double decant just to give air. Light gold complex aromas of golden apple and minerals. The minerality continues on the palate with citrus and saline. Savory on the finish with some zesty acid and continued minerality. Was better with food! (254 views)
Tasted by marcellonegro on 10/28/2022 & rated 88 points: Med gold
Nose of citrus, apricot, hint of honey
High acidity, med body
Flavours of citrus, green apple, minerality and cream. Some nutty notes.
Ok balance, good intensity, ok length and good complexity.
Needed to warm up a bit (serve closer to 15c for best) (549 views)
Tasted by vespa110 on 3/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Buono, giallo paglierino scarico con riflessi verdolini, naso affilato, roccia, sale, legno leggero, fiori bianchi, bocca salina, fresca buona persistenza.
MOLTO GIOVANE (1447 views)
Tasted by winchester-xi on 9/18/2020: Excellent. But absolutely needs 60-90 minutes of air. (1557 views)
Tasted by Beezc on 8/22/2020 & rated 90 points: Chablis like early on. As it sat it gained a little more body. Very good. (1515 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 1/5/2020 & rated 88 points: Crisp and quaffable. (2410 views)
Tasted by markjanes on 12/1/2019 & rated 87 points: low depth of color, straw rim. on the nose this is the kind of chenin that i always had trouble distinguishing from dry, minerally rieslings... the wine has little to none of the typical chenin notes, wet wool, quince, honey, nuttiness, etc... it is all minerals and neutral apple, some background nuttiness... no new oak or malo. on the palate dry, very high and fine acidity, moderate weight with a great core of minerals, low to moderate alcohol. balanced wine with good length and intensity, ok complexity... this is a very mineraly and cru like wine that may not be to everyones style. for it's style it is quite good, could use a little more length on the finish... very good wine and great QPR for this style of wine (1988 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 10/29/2019: Tasted over 2 hrs
-translucent pale yellow
-mild reduction sweet honeyed yellow fruit
-med/med+ acidity becomes prominent on the finish, med- weight intensely sappy mineral floral yellow fruit, OK length
-nice Saumur drinking well now (1547 views)
Tasted by Cote d'Or on 7/26/2019: Tasted over 2 hrs
-translucent med gold
-lightly honeyed floral matchstick flint
-med/med+ acidity gives a gentle zing to the med/med- weight frame, yellow fruits honey floral mineral with an intensely sappy almost sweet long finish
-interesting how this has a honeyed sweetness that evaporates to a fully dry finish, very good now, no idea how long this will shine (1585 views)
Tasted by jviz on 7/12/2019 & rated 91 points: Has a gin-like quality, with juniper and lime notes. Very focused but this is a little too linear and serious for my palate. Long hold recommended (1803 views)
Tasted by Elycohn on 5/5/2019 & rated 91 points: Deep green and laser precise with delicate viscous texture. Sour passion fruit and smokey skunk. (1446 views)
Tasted by winchester-xi on 4/28/2019: With air, a very nice nose of lemon, wax, and herbs, with lots of chalkiness. On the palate, intense minerality takes a foreground role, playing off against citrus pith and maybe a bit of pear. Light on entry but considerably denser in the midpalate. Fermented dry, with plenty of acid on the longish finish. Very good. (1280 views)
Tasted by vintage_whine on 4/20/2019: tightly wound, good oak integration with yellow and green apple and lemon. needs time to open. tart and dense (1274 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/1/2019: New Saumur Releases from Romain Guiberteau (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Relatively light bodied for Chenin, surging herb and acidity. Phew. (1762 views)

Bright yellow/gold color. Nose of citrus, grapefruit zest. Orchard fruits, quince, honey, wax, mineral/stone notes, oyster shell. Crisp through the mid palate, medium weight and finish.

Nice now, should last for a bit if wanting to cellar (1298 views)

Domaine Guiberteau

HISTORY OF THE DOMAIN

Since 1996, Romain Guiberteau has run a fabulous 14.5 hectare estate south of Saumur. Mainly composed of Cabernet Franc (6 hectares) and Chenin (8.5 hectares), it brilliantly produces 3 red wines and 5 white wines from vines with an average age of 40 years.

Recognized for a very long time for the high quality of its whites, the estate took a major step in 2003 by switching to organic farming: the soils are worked and grassed naturally; and only sulphur, copper and plant decoctions are used in the treatment of the vine.

Thus the reds have gained in finesse and brilliance and today reveal a sophistication and elegance worthy of the Saumur appellation. As for the whites, they have reached a delicacy of aromas like the great whites of Burgundy!
