The palate is medium-bodied, balanced and rather elegant for a Chianti. Cherry fruit. Good acidity from front to back.

On the first day there was an overwhelming potpurri aroma of rose petals that I found off putting. The next day was much better, still had aromas of rose but no longer overwhelming the red berries. Pleasant acidity and balanced tannins, with flavours of cranberry and strawberry. I personally prefer Chianti’s with a bit more spice and earthiness, but might give this another try based on the second day. Medium bodied with grippy tannins, and flavors of tart cherries turning into nice red fruits especially sweet raspberries. Great, but I think it would have been better with a longer decant. Medium deep ruby red; spicy and slightly dusty nose with a sense of green pepper freshness and fruit of cherries and cranberries; the palate displays racy acidity and a chalky minerality, concentrated but elegant and supple, finely grained but youthfully grippy tannins; good resonance and length. More finesse than the slightly burly 2016. Classic cherry notes, but backed up with wet leaves, dark berries.
In the mouth more of the cherries and the fruit goes a shade lighter. A beutiful acidity that shows there is more time left for those not in a rush.

Monteraponi Chianti Classico is blended from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo grapes; it is an elegant wine with a traditional style, its scents are bound to ripe intact red fruits, which are well combined with a balanced structure, smooth tannins and a limited acidity. The wine is aged with its for 12 months 30% in Allier barriques for a second passage and the remaining 70% in Allier casks of 23 hl.
