Tasted by AboveAvgBro on 4/13/2024 & rated 88 points: Slightly over the hill. Shane, I was hoping it would make it 15 years.

Well made I’m sure, but at this stage of life, it’s a bit tired. Still has tannin structure, but the fruit just didn’t make it 11 years. (86 views)
Tasted by Mark1npt on 12/10/2022 & rated 92 points: Very much like my first bottle. This is the 2nd and last of my stash. It's resolved and better after 2 hours of air than at the pnp. Problem is......it's more cab like than zin, at this point, as there is only a faint zin spice component present at this time. Nice but probably 1-2 years, too old, for those who really buy this zin for what it is....... (1892 views)
Tasted by Mark1npt on 11/23/2022 & rated 93 points: The oldest of these zins I've encountered. Picked up at auction a few months ago and pnp'd to go along with this evening's pizza. The initial 15 minutes this gives no hint of its age. It's still overtly big and juicy and ripe.....but this quickly changes to a more settled in version of its zin self. The fruit is still spicy and dark and primarily black and the acidic backbone is still strong so this has quite a while to go yet. Maybe a tad flat or one dimensional with its fruit on its integrated mouthwatering ending, but still pretty good and at my cost of $47/bottle, quite fair. (1963 views)
Tasted by ebert on 7/9/2022 & rated 91 points: Still has great bright fruit and deep tannins (1157 views)
Tasted by Doctor Vyd on 4/9/2022 & rated 92 points: A wonderful Zin Fruity with some spice deep color strong
smooth finish (1220 views)
Tasted by sortcode on 3/13/2021 & rated 92 points: 13.3.2021:++ Wacholder, Zimt, sehr kräftig, schönes Pfeffer, Eukalyptus, süße Paprika, reife kräftige und süße Tomate, sehr schön, etwas Alk betont aber immer noch ausgewogen, jetzt bis + 3Jahre

Tasted by DawgByte on 1/3/2021 & rated 92 points: Consumed over two days. This wine should be decanted first as it responds well to air. The nose consisted of brambly red fruits, cedar and baking spices. Alcohol is high at 15.8%, however this medium body Zin masks it pretty well. It's a well made wine with a good backbone of fresh acidity and well balanced tannins. On the palate I picked up cherries, raspberries, cigar box and signature HM pepper. Very nice length on the smooth finish.

This is approachable now, but give it a couple more years and it will sing. (1608 views)
Tasted by wineoracle on 9/5/2020 & rated 92 points: Deep purple color, blue and black fruits, a little spice, lasting smooth finish. (1680 views)
Tasted by asteff on 7/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Nice well rounded wine hitting across the palate. Good fruit, acidity and structure. Well balanced. (1654 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 6/11/2020 & rated 91 points: Crimson in color. 15.8% ABV. Gorgeous nose of brambly red fruits, baking spices and pepper. Medium body with exquisite acidity and exceptional balance. Elegant and surprisingly restrained. Cherries, raspberry liqueur, blood orange and Howell Mountain pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delicious Zinfandel but lacking the vibrancy and jammy fruit I often find in this wine. Best over the next 1-2 years. (1716 views)
Tasted by cobalt2 on 4/12/2020 & rated 93 points: Got a good one here. Took an hour to unwind but then it’s more mellow side came thru. Big yet not overwhelming. Certainly big ripe fruit with firm bites finish. (1351 views)
Tasted by ebert on 3/11/2020 & rated 91 points: Rather harsh and hot with alot of VA on opening with not much fruit showing. Once it had some air and opened up, the deep flavors, and unified smooth body came through. (1418 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 3/9/2020 & rated 93 points: Perhaps the best zin I've had - or at least in recent memory. Loads of wild berry fruit without a hint of jammy-ness. Bramble and pepper on the palate, and a good tannic backbone. Plenty more years left. (1227 views)
Tasted by jschnabel on 11/28/2019 & rated 89 points: Zin that doesn’t quite get to the zenith, but has depth and great mouth feel. Not a bad Thanksgiving day quaff to battle the variety of flavors vying at the same time. Dark fruits and flint on the nose. Initial cherry yields to plums and finally leather grit. (1314 views)
Tasted by RedWineLover66 on 10/11/2019 & rated 90 points: Sadly, I’ve struggled with this one. As much of a fan I am of Outpost, this was average at best. Perhaps it was sleepy, but sad about the experience being my last bottle (1374 views)
Tasted by ebert on 10/29/2018 & rated 87 points: Very astringent, tannic, and didn't open up. (2392 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 10/16/2018 & rated 92 points: Very nice zin. Full bodied. Lush fruit. Complex. Smooth for a zin. Big finish. (2101 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 9/30/2018 & rated 92 points: Very nice wine. Let it breathe for about two hours. Full-bodied lush wine with purple and dark fruit. Big finish. Excellent zin. Only question is whether its price point is a bit high. (1993 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 7/24/2018 & rated 92 points: Very nice full bodied lush ripe dark purple and blue fruit. Big wine, big finish. Can't believe they sold out. (2182 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 6/2/2018 & rated 92 points: Excellent zin. Gave it a couple hour decant, very smooth, nice pepper note. 92+ (2340 views)
Tasted by wineoracle on 5/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Deep blue and black fruit with a little pepper. Very elegant and smooth. (1732 views)
Tasted by DanielJ on 4/6/2018 & rated 91 points: Really big. Delicious. Black fruit. Lots of nuanced flavor. High alcohol gives a good buzz. (1914 views)
Tasted by Amerique on 3/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Rich, delicious mixed berry fruit with blackberry/black raspberry flavors, hint of spice, excellent structure, a little restrained, classic Zin style, ample finish (1972 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 1/1/2018 & rated 92 points: Let breathe for about 90 minutes. Inky purple. Full bodied ripe black and blue fruit. Good finish. (1915 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 11/12/2017 & rated 92 points: Approachable now, but it certainly has 6-8 more years. Blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, and hints of spice. Medium to full body and a medium length finish. (2038 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
