Community Tasting Notes (average 92.3 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 39 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by EhrlichDY on 10/2/2023: Popped and poured. Great showing from a great vintage. Layered fruit, decent acidity, lovely texture. (309 views)
Tasted by melvinyeowq on 9/27/2022 flawed bottle: Mainly Meursaults: Unfortunately corked. Shame because this felt like a great wine underneath the taint. (1041 views)
Tasted by RockinCabs on 7/29/2022 & rated 91 points: Excellent balance of rich apple, vanilla, creamy texture and an underlying mineral note. Really nice with a lobster risotto. (760 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 7/23/2021 & rated 93 points: A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Champagne and Burgundy (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Expressive nose displaying ripe yellow fruit, golden delicious, peach cobbler, vanilla/oak, honeysuckle, caramel, almond paste, spicy spices and mineral. Very good concentration, nicely layered yellow fruit, rich and dense, medium acidity and mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with crème brulee at the end. This is a solid Meursault 1er crus that clearly expressing the rich and ripe 10 vintage. This is drinking at the peak, no need to wait. (1653 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 4/5/2021 & rated 93 points: Another great bottle of this wine. Lots of citrus fruit, lemon curd, good minerality, and balanced acidity. The wine has a full mouthfeel and a medium to long finish. Very delightful. Unfortunately, it is my last bottle. (1151 views)
Tasted by EhrlichDY on 2/25/2021 flawed bottle: Bottle was advanced and after an hour of air downright full pre-moxed with notes of sherry. (1021 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 1/31/2021 & rated 92 points: A great mature burgundy. I also noticed a little reduction on the palate, but very slight. But this is telling me that it is time to drink these up. We are tempting fate with pre-mox if we hold these too long. Nevertheless, the wine has very nice lemon and lemon curd, plus good minerality. (781 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 10/27/2019 & rated 93 points: After opening some reductive and oxidative notes, which were blown away in contact with air, dense wine, white fruit and lemon, long, excellent. (1321 views)
Tasted by NickA on 5/28/2019 & rated 90 points: This is undeniably a lovely wine, and won round everyone at dinner tonight, but didn't wow enough to justify its price. Noticeably oaky at first, smooth, some citrus, but this bottle drank like a village wine rather than 1er, lacking complexity or power. (1358 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/8/2019: Quick Impressions from the 2019 La Paulée Verticals Tasting (Eventi Hotel, New York): Yellow. Apple fruit on both the nose and palate. Medium weight, moderate oak, lowish acidity. Wholly unimpressive. (1761 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/8/2019: La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Slight reduction distracts here, but this still shows very good concentration with floral, lemon curd and ripe apple notes. Impressive density for 1er Crus. Cellar at least a few more years, 92+ point potential. (1899 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 3/8/2019: La Paulée de NY Verticals Tasting (Kimpton Hotel Eventi): 10/09/08 Nose is reductive making it difficult to assess. Palate has good stuff and richness, and despite the reduction you can sense the vibrance. 90-92+? (1715 views)
Tasted by andreel on 1/19/2019 & rated 94 points: Fantastic wine - savoury, herby and very complex. Too bad I only had one bottle. (887 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 12/22/2018 & rated 92 points: Light yellow color, lemon, hazelnut, apple and pear, stony, maybe a bit too much wood as I had also with his 2010 1cru Blagny. This wine is dense and long, excellent balance, very good now, maybe will profit of some more years of cellaring to digest better the wood. (694 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 6/16/2018 & rated 92 points: This is a lovely Meursault with notes of citrus, great minerality, and I get the caramel flavor that another poster mentioned. The acidity is very present with the citrus flavors. (1104 views)
Tasted by Andrewbdc on 4/6/2018 & rated 93 points: Medium lemon
Pronounced aromas of ripe stone fruit, butter, caramel, vanilla, smoke, hazelnuts, gunflint. Developing.
Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol, medium (+) body, mineral on the palate, long finish.
Beautiful, fairly mature Meursault, drinking very nicely now, I wouldn't leave it much longer. (1213 views)
Tasted by Argrath on 5/13/2017 & rated 94 points: (Half-blind tasting 2010 White Burg GC)
youthful, oaky, ample, with ripe yellow apple, stony minerality, gun-powder and wet slate. Very deep and complex. Elegant.
Medium-fullish, perfectly balanced palate. Very harmonius. Very good grip and intensity. Toast, oak, power. Dense yellow orchard fruit. Very long with intense smoky gravel and roast nuts. Very pure.
One of the WOTN, this had far more power and intensity than expected. Some even suggested this could be the Chevalier-Mont... (1619 views)
Tasted by Gurto on 1/12/2017 & rated 90 points: Ur minnet: mineralisk och smörig som sig bör men lite återhållsam. Hade vunnit på att sparas. 90+ (2543 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 8/5/2016: Tasted blind and tentatively identified as a Côte de Beaune wine. Light yellow. More vanilla than anything else on the nose. Fat, woody, some pear fruit, and overall, rather loosely knit. Is this really a Jobard wine?? (2943 views)
Tasted by FrancoisD on 7/3/2016 & rated 94 points: By avec Éli à Lyon
92-93 (3218 views)
Tasted by pavel_p on 5/1/2015 & rated 92 points: PnP and drank over 3h. Light golden color. Nose with nuts and brioche, on the fairly oily palate also peaches, some citrus, fairly long finish. This is clearly an excellent Meursault, even though I would prefer a touch more freshness, but oiliness is probably the vintage characteristics (3857 views)
Tasted by Nordin on 3/30/2015 & rated 93 points: Absolutely delicious! Young, vibrant with polished oak treatment, needed an hour in the decanter to really shine. (3062 views)
Tasted by KVM on 11/22/2014: Light yellow. Mature nose includes biscuit, anise. Fresh in the mouth. Very good! (2798 views)
Tasted by Mascarello59 on 6/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Shy nose of tropical fruit and pears. Still held back but shows great harmony and elegance. Complex intense and full bodied wine. (2891 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
