Tasted by fcxj on 4/27/2024 flawed bottle: Slight cork taint. (132 views)
Tasted by ricknat1 on 5/9/2023 & rated 96 points: Still at its peak. It took 5 minutes for the power to come through but still very exciting (797 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 4/14/2023 & rated 96 points: Library release bottles need air but unfurl into classic full throttle Leflaive with citrus aromatics and loads of depth. (RE 2700) (884 views)
Tasted by beatles on 2/26/2023 & rated 96 points: Taasted blind vis-a-vis PM Combettes, this is a more feminin wine with plenty of minerals and citrus. Very fine depth, yet still a young wine, needs more time, I think.
#Peytz&Co (1352 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 2/1/2023 & rated 98 points: Library release that's as good as I've seen from this wine. Citrus aromatics, incredibly fresh, acidic tension and that length. (RE 2701) (1191 views)
Tasted by fclarity on 6/12/2022 & rated 96 points: Tasted blind, this wine had a bright, deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose offerted up lemons, brioche, minerals, pear, and apple flavors.

In the mouth, this was classic Chevalier in that overall it had a light texture in the mouth but the flavors and acidity were bold. This was gorgeously integrated and had great length.

This is starting to come into its drinking zone but ideally I would wait another 5 years. It will last for at least 10 years after that. I could taste the oak here but it was integrated enough that I liked it. This might even improve a point or two. (1580 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 2/1/2022 flawed bottle: Bottle was in great condition. Top fill. Gréât freshness and energy. Shame it was corked… (1817 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 12/18/2021 & rated 96 points: Peak 90s Chevy. Lemony, exuberant, ultra clean aromatics. Palate is broad and placid with serious sweet citrus twinge, grand cru plus weight and length. Ever so slightly bitter finish. (1705 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 8/26/2021 & rated 94 points: Richer overall profile than the Batard although not as complex on this evening. Reasonable energy here but a tad more advanced than the best remaining bottles. (1853 views)
Tasted by steinersing on 6/4/2021 & rated 97 points: Leflaive reconditioned bottle. Seductive nose. White flowers, minerals. Precise. Long life ahead in this format. Opened 3 hours ahead. (1772 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 2/17/2021 & rated 95 points: A lighter character than some bottles of '96 Chevalier can have, this one needed more time in the bottle to fully develop. 95+ (1835 views)
Tasted by WIBA on 2/6/2021 & rated 94 points: Oh point thankfully. But not the best bottle as the nose was not as explosive as it should be nor as reductive. But still beautiful acidity and freshness. Opens up slowly over the next 3-4 hours and evolves beautifully as the body becomes fuller over time. (1482 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 1/30/2021 & rated 95 points: Nicely balanced with floral, orchard fruit and citrus notes. A deeper than defined bottle. Very nice, became more expressive with 30 minutes of air time. (1633 views)
Tasted by Benoit Hardy on 1/23/2021 & rated 96 points: Drunk for the first time in 2017, I had the pleasure of meeting this wine again.

The nose has changed little since the last time, candied almonds, hazelnuts and smoky wood. This forms a very classy whole.

The palate is still so refined from the last time. The touch is velvety, the material enveloping. The acidity and the fat form a perfect balance and the juice occupies the palate while increasing in power. I noted in 2017 "powerful and airy at the same time", which is still the case. The buttery, nutty finish explodes and stretches giving the wine incredible length.

Always so magnificent, he has not moved. (1465 views)
Tasted by WIBA on 12/27/2020 & rated 92 points: when it's on it's on but this bottle is not quite there but also not entirely off. started with the sexy reductive nose but soon fades and same with the palate. dropped off very quickly. not as vibrant but still a gem (1172 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 11/24/2020 & rated 95 points: Clean and vibrant. Great bottle that had a lot of time left. (1303 views)
Tasted by kr522 on 8/20/2020 & rated 98 points: Another great showing with a bouquet that’s off the charts. It has 96’s lean character: very chisled fruit, mineral, and a lengthy finish which fans out into a gorgeous peacock’s tail of citrus, lemon oil, limestone and sea salt. Got better with air....at its peak 3+ hours later. 97+ and a long future ahead....I’m going to save my remaining bottles for 5 years or more. (1384 views)
Tasted by NYC_Maenad on 6/20/2020: Decanted for 30 minutes and served in Riedel vinum burg stems. Gorgeous light gold color, vibrant and shining in the glass. If it's possible to tell from the way a wine looks that it will taste great, then this one did. Nose was a solid blast to the senses - not a lot of fresh fruit, but some marzipan, lemon cream, fresh crushed tarragon, some flinty minerals, some petrol. The palate made me think of that quote from The Girl Hunt Ballet - it "came at me in sections...more curves than a scenic railway." It kept unfolding, offering more and more, there was something new around every corner. Very rich, but light feeling in the mouth, and somehow kept feeling chilled even after it warmed to room temp. I kept some in my glass until way later in the evening and, while I can't say the best sip was the last, it was still darn good at every sip along the way. We got a good one here for sure. Why, oh why, couldn't they all be this way? What a loss. (1634 views)
Tasted by kr522 on 6/10/2020 & rated 96 points: Stellar showing. Golden color suggests maturing burg, nose is fabulous, and it has a bright/crisp palate with some development. a touch of honey in the finish complements the fresh fruit and vintage’s dry personality. Many years ahead for well stored bottles (1382 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 6/9/2020 & rated 93 points: Golden richness, good depth, smooth mouthfeel. Just beginning to lose some of its cut and freshness. 93- (1340 views)
Tasted by tinybubbles on 5/23/2020 & rated 93 points: Quite full and round. Weight here. Just a little blunt on the finish. 93-94 (1267 views)
Tasted by rnellans on 2/3/2020 & rated 96 points: I've always loved the wine. Big wine. A bit of matchstick on the nose. Lemon, Expansive mid palate. Long finish. (1418 views)
Tasted by Alex G. on 1/31/2020: DRC in AZ - Tucson Comes to Scottsdale: Every time I have one of the epic '96's from Leflaive, it reminds me of how vast the damage has been in later years from premature oxidation. When Leflaive was on, there really was nothing better. This wine was in peak form, really lovely on every level, and with a great deal of life left in it. Well-stored bottles will easily go another decade. Quite remarkable. (1713 views)
Tasted by BradE on 1/31/2020: A beautiful bottle of wine. And I agree wholeheartedly with Alex. Drinking great bottles of Leflaive reminds me of what I've missed as one who's avoided this producer during the pre-mox era. (1512 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 1/14/2020 flawed bottle: Ficofi Paulee- Oxidized (1560 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
