Tasted by Bakerbd on 4/27/2024 & rated 93 points: Salted lemon, baguette, green apple, fine bead (168 views)
Tasted by glou.sf on 7/21/2023: No formal notes, but this was really pretty. Probably one of the best UMs I've had. (1014 views)
Tasted by Peech on 1/10/2023 & rated 92 points: disgorged Nov 18, 2018 - acidity was definitely much higher, a little more mineral, and more grippy on the palate. (913 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 9/30/2022 & rated 94 points: Medium straw color on the pour. This sparkling wine has notes of brioche, Walnut nuttiness, and most certainly an oxidative character. Roasted yellow fruit, yet since this is a 2014 still has a lot of sweet peach and pear cobbler influence on the pallet. Herbal finish, with a little bit of bitters and tart. Wow, this one is really a delight. Definitely more full body than I expected it to be, and has a very complex character. If you wanted to hold this wine for the next 3 to 4 years, you would have no problem in doing so whatsoever. But, it was the only one enjoyed tonight really without a accoutrement and did very well. (1303 views)
Tasted by Bakerbd on 9/7/2022 & rated 94 points: Popped a bottle in line with the release of the new vintage. Lemon and orange zest, pear skin, saline, fine bead and bright acid. Excited to try a bottle side-by-side with the late-disgorged version in the future (1249 views)
Tasted by jshufelt on 5/27/2022 & rated 92 points: Pop and pour. In the glass, clear light gold with a hint of copper, and medium bubbles. On the nose, lemons and yeast. On the palate, a medium-to-full bodied texture, paired with lemons, ocean water, and notes of freshly baked bread. (1286 views)
Tasted by mark2eye on 9/15/2021 & rated 95 points: Full of life right out the bottle. Lemon skin and saline wafted through the room. Great length and precision. Drinking beautifully (1687 views)
Tasted by Andyofoto on 7/6/2021: Delicious. Biscuits golden fruit tones. Elegant and cohesive. There is not better spelling wine being made in the US (1647 views)
Tasted by midiprincess on 5/16/2021 & rated 96 points: A very special bottle courtesy of a generous winemaker friend (1129 views)
Tasted by Rich S on 2/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Light golden color. Really aromatic on the nose with golden apples, almonds, orange blossom, brioche, lemon zest, and just a slight hint of nutty, oxidative notes on the back end. Similar flavors on the palate with orchard and citrus fruit mixed with a bit of yeasty brioche. High acidity. Fine mousse. Long finish. Very complex and delicious. (1825 views)
Tasted by dougie on 1/20/2021 & rated 95 points: Celebrate! (1560 views)
Tasted by jvphoto on 12/25/2020 & rated 94 points: Medium yellow, beady bubbles. Ash, quince, lemon, pear, chamomile, sea salt, melon rind. Electric acidity. (1325 views)
Tasted by milesskorpen on 11/7/2020 & rated 95 points: Perfect way to celebrate. (1172 views)
Tasted by mbidder954 on 11/7/2020 & rated 93 points: Fruit, citrus, brioche, acid - incredibly delicious. Perfect way to celebrate Joe and Kamala and our return to morality and decency. (1291 views)
Tasted by B Paul on 9/10/2020: Great energy and balance. Really nice and, for me, this is a step up from the 2013. Drinking well, but no rush here. (1336 views)
Tasted by Mrbuzz on 9/4/2020 & rated 95 points: Last bottle of this...gone! They are just too darn tasty not to pop! The two bottles allocated are just not enough...but appreciated! My last note is still spot...maybe a little more integration and the energy level kicked down a bit to a dance party instead of a full on rave! The flesh fruit and citrus cut is in such balance...just wonderful flavors as noted last time...oh Rhys...please study these guys! (1773 views)
Tasted by BigTex22 on 3/6/2020 & rated 95 points: I’m with Buzz on this, outstanding stuff! Creme brûlée, fine mousse, and a long finish. This should drink well for many years. (1664 views)
Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 12/18/2019 & rated 94 points: Pale to medium golden yellow in appearance with tiny bubbles. Creamy and layered nose with spiced apples, brioche, honeysuckle and something a touch herbal. Medium acidity (6/10) with a medium body. Well rounded with complexity and freshness. Layered with green apples, creamy stone fruits, slight minerality, touch of lemon curd and white florals. Long and lingering finish. One of the best Blanc de Blancs from Ultramarine so far. Drink till 2028. (2103 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 12/16/2019 & rated 94 points: A small impromptu dinner - 08 Champagne and Chateau Margaux (Clarity - Vienna, Virginia): Expressive nose displaying rich yellow fruit, peach, sour apple, apple pie, oyster shell, a hint of brioche, sweet spices and mineral. Excellent concentration, nicely layered sweet yellow fruit, medium fine medium abundant mousse, rich yet good precision and balance, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral and a long sweet yellow fruit driven finish with brioche and oyster shell at the end. This is significantly better than the 12 which I had in April, 2017. If tasted blind, I would have guessed as Champagne, others agree. This is rich and complex, really enjoyable. (2801 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 10/24/2019 & rated 89 points: Very clean, dry, almost sour-tart, this may need a higher dosage. Not bad, but lacks the stuffing and complexity of a Champagne. IMHO. Champagne and Oysters Night (1809 views)
Tasted by Ben F on 10/13/2019 & rated 94 points: Dinners at home, Mill Valley, CA. From 750ml. Opened and enjoyed over two evenings.

Beautiful and engaging, with great tension and energy. The interplay of white floral and pit fruit notes with deeper tones of lanolin nuttiness, kept alive with terrific bright acidity and minerality on the palate, was particularly striking. Approachable now but it seems to me this could evolve positively for a few more years. (1901 views)
Tasted by eoinhharkins on 8/21/2019 & rated 92 points: Young for sure but so fresh and vibrant nose of cream soda, bruised apple, lemon rind and brioche palate has an energetic mousse with lots of acidity and length (1971 views)
Tasted by Shay.Aldriedge on 2/18/2019 & rated 92 points: It hurt me to open this as I knew it would be painfully young...and it was. But, in the name of science to help a friend with some comparative research for a sparkling project, so it was analyzed!

Most distinctive out of the lineup (Krug, Vilmart, Bollinger, Paul Goerg, Prieur). Straight up cream soda mousse. Definitely oxidative in style but not channeling any of those sherry like notes. This carried ripe tropical fruits and a touch of honeycomb, versus the ‘13 I opened a few months back that was completely open for business with marzipan & roasted cashews. Not surprisingly, I’d hold this another 2-3yrs. (2486 views)
Tasted by Mrbuzz on 1/10/2019 & rated 95 points: SOOOO fun to drink! The BdB this year is all about subtlety and freshness...not as fleshy as the 13, but more so than your typical Champs. Again, as so with the 13, a wonderful nose of almond liqueur, lemon chiffon, lychee and white blossom florals...refreshing and bursting with energized excitement on the palate...crisp with finessed ginger bubbles, tart lemon acidity, salted minerality. After the pop rocks go off, there is a chiffon softness mouth coating mousse...persisting lemon sour acidity, slight tropical pineapple...balanced to perfection, and making you crave for more! A fleshy Vilmart if you will. A pure pleasure wine! (2549 views)
Tasted by pclin on 12/13/2018: Light floral nose, clean. Decent acidity level but not a lot of complexity yet. Well made wine. Dinner at The Modern NYC. (2467 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
