Tasted by essenceofreal on 5/19/2024 & rated 94 points: Hey now, you go Lanson!!

First opened and the general consensus, not drinkable. Finish fell off a cliff.

30 minutes later an entirely new wine. Then after an hour, hey now, this is frickin excellent! Could easily be 95. Even the Som was scratching his head at the transition. Nice, you could tell the BdB character screaming in a good way. Loved it.

Great drinking window at peak. But I don't see it falling apart anytime soon, should hold here a few years then start a gradual fade into the sunset. (28 views)
Tasted by MN Wine Junkie on 1/1/2024 & rated 93 points: New Years Day Champagne Tasting (Brad's Castle): Very nice! A tasty Champagne that won't disappoint! Lots of buttered toast, creamy pear and Meyers lemon, with notes of Gala apple, flint and spice. 93 points for me! (606 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 1/1/2024 & rated 93 points: Drank a small pour at a tasting. The Lanson's that I've had seem to be improving with bottle age. Slight caramel notes, lychee, elegant pear and baked lemon. (528 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 1/1/2024 & rated 94 points: New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Seventh Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Tasting pour. Had this back in late September when we brought a bottle to The Strand at Lutsen. That bottle was brilliant and this was right there with it. Classy, elegant, dulche de leche, caramel creme, pear, toasted, lemon paste, limestone. Great. (501 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 9/29/2023 & rated 94 points: Light gold color. Drank a couple glasses over 90 minutes. Brought this to Lutsen for dinner at The Strand with my cousins. I could not have been more pleased with how this showed. these have always been quite good, but they just keep getting better with age. I've always favored the BdB over the still excellent Brut Noble. This was at another level again showing a gorgeous dulce de leche note up front, nice purity of pear fruit, and creamy nugat with almond, blissful toast and lemon curd on the deep and elegant finish. Beautiful. 94+ to 95pts. (688 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 5/27/2023 & rated 93 points: Samples from Bill #4: Toasty, lemon curd, smoke and apple. Classic Lanson piercingly fresh acid line. Fruit has started to show a touch of roundness though it drives through with the acid and stays refreshing on the palate. Really lovely. (983 views)
Tasted by B&PBaker on 12/25/2022 & rated 91 points: Smooth easy drinking. No real notes jump out at you. Just pleasant, smooth, and beautiful. (954 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 12/5/2022: SAC: 2002 Retrospective: Classic and easy to drink. Just a touch of brioche. (1441 views)
Tasted by Greybush79 on 3/28/2022 & rated 90 points: Still has many years left in it, it is so delicious today. The tertiary notes of leather and mushroom are starting to shine, but the acidity is still ever present. Such a lovely bottle! (1518 views)
Tasted by danielk168 on 12/14/2021 & rated 91 points: Although my taste is moving towards more pinot in the blend and even 100% pinot, this bottle does give much pleasure. Sitting in a very nice place with a bit of everything, not exactly youthful but still packed some punch! (1860 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 11/5/2021 & rated 93 points: Siggy Turns "Fitty": The Big 5-0 Blowout! (Spoon & Stable, Mpls, MN): Tasting pour. This has always been a winner too. Consistent with previous notes, citrus, tart apples, yeasty, full bodied, more of a stark chalky style particularly on the back end. Always good and glad to have some. (2010 views)
Tasted by btock on 11/5/2021 & rated 94 points: I brought this to a big gathering for a friend's 50th. Part of the apps & mingle part of the eve. Was very happy with how it showed. Bright, engaging, beautiful pale yellow coloring in the bottle and in the glass. Meyer lemon hints, refreshing. Was consumed very quickly by the crowd. Was in the mix with a really great Champagne lineup and was happy to see Lanson get some attention amidst more well know Tete du Cuvees. I'm sure I won't see the '02 again but I'd be a buyer of the Noble BdB in future vintages as this style is really appealing to me. (1675 views)
Tasted by Orange Tsian on 9/12/2021 & rated 89 points: (89/100) (1431 views)
Tasted by lomartin@protonmail.com on 6/6/2021 & rated 80 points: Non-malolactic process results in the fruits of this champagne coming through to the taste profile with great clarity. Medium to large bubbles. Certainly a good wine and we enjoyed it but not our first choice for taste profiles. (1442 views)
Tasted by winebytoth on 5/15/2021 & rated 94 points: Lemon, honey, cream, minerality, chalky texture. This wine packs a lot in each sip. Super long finish with hazelnut and a medium acidity finish. Opened up over 2+ hours and flavors expanded with lots of depth and complexities. For the price I put this up there with 2008 Dom Perignon and 2011 Perrier Jouet. All are wonderful in their own right but this one stands out for sure. Will purchase more. (1155 views)
Tasted by Crocadillus on 12/23/2020 & rated 92 points: So much honey. Delicious! (1484 views)
Tasted by Pknut on 11/21/2020: Opened this to celebrate Daughter's return, happy and healthy, from her first semester away at University; this 2002 vintage is her birthyear. Lovely Champagne which made a strong initial impression with its tapared palate, lemon and green apple on the attack, freshness, bright acidity, good cut, light bead, and focus. This is light on its feet, well-defined, and still youthfeel. (1619 views)
Tasted by cct on 10/16/2020 & rated 92 points: Chalky lovely Chardonnay fruit, with subtle autolytic notes on the nose. Midweighred, with excellent balance, good backbone yet retaining freshness. It's suffering only from following the 95 Taittinger CdC. It has excellent cut and well done dosage all giving it a freshness and snap that really like. It lacks the finesse of the Taittinger, but that is no crime. Drinking beautifully right now with tons of time in hand. 92 (1703 views)
Tasted by Andrew H on 10/11/2020 & rated 91 points: Golden yellow. Extremely generous bubbles, fine. Lemon, touch of shortbread, very nice. (1117 views)
Tasted by yipen on 12/21/2019: Had it with oyster, Sharp acidity and mineral. Nice match. will seek out more. But better pair with food at this point (1649 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 8/29/2019 & rated 93 points: Youthful pale gold color. I loved the racy complex and concentrated array of mineral, citrus, toast & brioche. Squarely in my wheelhouse and much better then their basic cuvees. I'll seek this out. Thanks Joe! (1963 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 8/23/2019 & rated 88 points: Nose: The nose is well balanced and fragrant with brioche, red apples, stone fruits, quince, yeast tones, citrus, and yellow florals. Where this is balanced, it does lack some depth and complexity and freshness to the fruit.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with high acidity. The acidity is a bit sharp, but not overly so while the feel is balanced with brioche, red apples, stone fruits, quince, yeast tones, and yellow florals.

Overall: This is a good Blanc de Blancs and it likely suffered being right after Krug and a Comtes. It is fairly straight forward and shows good autolytic tones, but it lacks some depth and freshness to the fruit. (1633 views)
Tasted by SimonG on 8/4/2019 & rated 94 points: Les Crayères (Reims): Elegant and refined B de B with poise and line. Lots of depth here. Opens up over a couple of hours to show some coffee cream and walnut development and mid palate complexity. Lots to savour here. Impressive. ****1/2 (1790 views)
Tasted by BenBlu on 7/17/2019 & rated 90 points: 2002 Vintage Champagne horizontal (Elystan Street, London): Bit of citrus, quite weak overall though and a shadow of the "standard" Lanson Noble Cuvee which seemed to have it all. This was a bit disjoint to me and I doubt it will ever really get there. So conclusion is go for the "normal" Noble instead, that one can go places with more bottle age. (2396 views)
Tasted by B&PBaker on 6/16/2019 & rated 91 points: Lots of citrus but not overpowering. Mineral and citrus. All good. (1335 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
