Tasted by JWG on 6/28/2010 & rated 91 points: Tar and earthy notes on the nose. The palate is dark cherries and light tar with good acidity and moderate tannins. Really drinking well. (1931 views)
Tasted by JWG on 1/22/2010 & rated 90 points: Bright and dark fruit on the nose, with some tar. Tar and dark cherries on the palate, good acidity, and modest tannins. Was great when opened, but had to leave 1/2 bottle for next day, and vacuum sealed it, but it had lost most of its vibrancy by the next day and was tired. So, drink the same day! (1970 views)
Tasted by JWG on 3/17/2009 & rated 91 points: Interesting factor -- you must wait an hour or so, or decant well, because it's very tight at first and unforgiving at first. But once given time, it has a great tarry nose with dark fruit underneath. There is a slight tar in the taste and dark cherries, good acidity and moderate tannins at end. (2002 views)
Tasted by JWG on 6/16/2008 & rated 90 points: Another delicious Selvapiana. Top quality sangiovese fruit on the palate and dark cherries. Nose is bright and fruity and hint of earth and leather. (2054 views)
Tasted by JWG on 3/2/2007 & rated 91 points: Stunning Chianti Rufina. Beautiful tarry, earthy very dark fruit on the nose. The taste follows with amazing soft road tar and dark cherries with great acidity and soft tannins at the end. A great expression of sangiovese. (2323 views)
Tasted by wineboat on 4/23/2006 & rated 89 points: great wine for the table, goes with almost anything calling for red wine. great blend of flavors - dark plums balanced with subtle hint of tobacco and chocolate. none of the harsh raspy hit I might associate with many Chianti's. Well priced (1884 views)
Tasted by MrSnooty on 12/20/2005 & rated 75 points: Drank at pizza night at our place. Sadly I didn't take any notes... (1921 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
