Tasted by vinhonotte on 3/10/2022 & rated 90 points: Pale straw with green hue and starbright. Intense aromas of underripe lime, guava and gooseberry, fresh cut grass, and capsicum. Mouthwatering acids, and medium bodied, but the bell pepper and zesty lime and guava flavours are intense, with a hint of cinnamon to round off, and quite a bit of heat. Straightforward but does carry a little length at the back (762 views)

(1212 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 5/24/2021 & rated 91 points: Twomey's 2019 is a 50/50 blend from Napa County and Sonoma County, sourced from four different estate vineyards (Oakville 41%, Calistoga 9%, Merino Russian River 35% and Healdsburg 15%). Comprised of 99% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Sauvignon Gris, it is a limpid, light yellow wine with an attractive bouquet of stone fruits, orange creamsicle, guava, pineapple and cut grass. Light-bodied, vibrantly acidic, minimally oaked and without any heat from its 14.1% alcohol, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas and stays solid on the mid-palate. Medium-to-long and crisp on the back end, this is a delicious take on the grape. Bottled under screwcap but not showing any reductive notes, this is one to open, pour and enjoy. Drink now-2023. (1279 views)

Tasted by rkww on 2/21/2021 & rated 86 points: Silver Oak Healdsburg Tasting: The 2019 Twomey Estate is just dandy for a $25 sauvignon blanc. Both tropical and slightly mineral, creamy but not over-oaked. It doesn’t quite strike my ideal balance, but it’s quaffable enough for a hot day in the next summer or two. (953 views)

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
