Tasted by wineton.mee on 3/12/2024 & rated 94 points: This is a strong Suchots from HN. Ripe and a touch of that heat, which that transitioned to a beautifully classic HN Vosne. A lesser version of the 2008 Cathiard Malconsorts. Silky red fruits, spices, orange peel and just an excellent expression of both the plot and the maker. Lots of justice has done by this bottle. (459 views)
Tasted by pclin on 3/1/2024 & rated 95 points: Co-WOTN. Wide open and delicious, Hudelot Noellat did extremely well in this vintage, everything you wanted form a Suchots in a good vintage. Perfumed, smooth, and good balance. (352 views)
Tasted by melvinyeowq on 3/1/2024 & rated 94 points: Vosne / Chambolle 1ers from good producers theme: So pure, balanced and refined that I immediately said 2010 H-N. Quintessential H-N, Vosne, Suchots, and 2010 - enough said. A true ballerina of a wine. (450 views)
Tasted by astroman on 3/1/2024 & rated 95 points: VR vs CM good producers (Shin Terrior): Blind, love the aromas, great intensity of flavours, sour cherry, supported by lively palate, good density, touch savoury. (336 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 12/22/2023 & rated 93 points: Pure red fruit, vanilla, strawberries and Vosne spice. Weighty and complex palate. Drinking well with a few hours of air. 92-93 (614 views)
Tasted by PC73 on 6/30/2023 & rated 94 points: As before. (564 views)
Tasted by PC73 on 6/30/2023 & rated 94 points: A vintage with well reported issues of seeping corks. No issue here. Label is pristine and cork good.
Quite tight on opening in a contrast to the Orveaux that was more showy and open. However, this is showing well. Light. Elegant. Ethereal. Palate of wild strawberry. Red fruits. Although a touch more structure.
Smoothe and balanced, very integrated and just full of pleasure. Really opened up after a few hours to outgun the Suchots in the end. A touch more complex. A more complete wine, but this is really splitting hairs. Both were fab. (631 views)
Tasted by shifter on 11/24/2022: Just as DWSTYLE, cork was nearly completely soaked and there was wine in the capsule. At first I thought it was Coravin'd, but no pierce through the capsule. Just a very poor cork it seems. Decanted, but wine wasn't very bright or fresh. Tasted much older than it was, but still drinking surprisingly well at this point. (1189 views)
Tasted by PC73 on 9/15/2022 & rated 94 points: Brief notes as took to la Paulee style dinner.
Best red of the evening. So refined and elegant. A real purity of fruit. Classic pinot. (1119 views)
Tasted by DWStyle on 3/4/2022 & rated 93 points: Cork was soaked and a little juice was in the capsule as removed it! Even using a Durand the cork came apart. Decanted for an hour+. Dark cherry color. Slight vanilla cherry cream aroma that I find very captivating . Overall an enticing nose.
Medium light body with red and blue fruit flavors and an medium plus acidity. Fairly well balanced.
Resilient finish. Very enjoyable now too! My last bottle! (1458 views)
Tasted by PC73 on 9/18/2021 & rated 93 points: A vintage with well reported issues of seeping corks. No issue here. Label is pristine and cork good.
This is showing so well. Light. Elegant. Ethereal. Palate of wild strawberry. Red fruits.
Smoothe and balanced, very integrated and just full of pleasure. To easy just to enjoy this one. Went down really well. (1535 views)
Tasted by Taffi on 7/11/2021 & rated 92 points: Glatt og flott vin som drikker fint nå, men vil utmerket godt tåle endel år til. (1499 views)
Tasted by PC73 on 5/16/2021 & rated 93 points: A vintage with well reported issues of seeping corks. No issue here. Label is pristine and cork good.
A slight heaviness on the palate initially on open but lightens up with some time. Perhaps a touch of earthiness?
A touch of spice on the palate. Plum and dark fruits.
Smoothe and balanced, very integrated and just full of pleasure.
First bottle from the case, will pay more attention next time. To easy just to enjoy this one. (1375 views)
Tasted by redders on 10/11/2017 & rated 94 points: Jeroboam Club Les Suchots tasting. Clearly voted WOTN
mid coloured but immature. Wonderful nose , gauze like with great depth of pure fruit and mineral elements . Beautifully balanced on the palate with intensity , fruit and structure. Young , superb now but needs 5 years to hit its best. (3372 views)
Tasted by nihraguk on 8/25/2017 & rated 92 points: It was reticent on the nose when we opened the bottle, so we decided to decant and leave it for about thirty minutes. Thereafter, there was leather, earth and some spice on the nose, and a great crunchy, velvety texture and a good finish. It continued to flesh out and evolve in the glass. Very well-balanced. Could certainly use more time. (2991 views)
Tasted by d'Auvenay on 2/10/2017 & rated 92 points: Wine in pristine condition and drank during a burgundy trip. Consumed in 1.5 hrs. Spices and plum, but well balanced and complex. Still young and give it another 3-5 yrs. (1416 views)
Tasted by sehill on 9/4/2016 & rated 90 points: Similar to a previously tasted bottle. (4044 views)
Tasted by sehill on 11/23/2013 & rated 90 points: Opened and poured, this wine displays wonderful detailed red fruits and spice notes on the bouquet that are somewhat marred by subtle reductive notes. The color is subtle medium ruby. The medium bodied palate shows a lengthy finish with detailed red fruits, medium tannins and an appropriate level of acidity. This wine is elegant and refined and it is only the reductive elements on the bouquet that keep this from giving a more compelling showing. If this wine can overcome the mild reduction on the palate this has the potential to give an outstanding showing. (6433 views)
Tasted by Henrik_christopher on 7/22/2013: Drukket ute, luftet ca fire timer i kjelleren ved 14 grader og ingen fluer i glasset denne gangen.

(5229 views)
Tasted by steinersing on 5/31/2013 & rated 90 points: Surprisingly ready, red fruit, lovely (5666 views)
Tasted by johnh1001 on 3/23/2013 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured. Great red fruit on the nose. Jumps out. Delicate yet modern flavor profile. Lots of minerality on the palate along with a ton of spice and a bit of tannin. Slight reduction on the nose. Great integrated texture. Long finish. (5519 views)
Tasted by alanr on 3/14/2013 & rated 93 points: 2013 La Paulee, New York; 3/12/2013-3/14/2013: Beautiful intensity, bright cherry, excellent acidity, an refined and elegant Suchots. (6323 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 3/9/2013: La Paulée de New York 2013 (Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC): Similar bright red fruit to the VR villages; but this has a heavier asphalt earthy character and an even tastier jam. Very, very good. (3674 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/9/2013: Focus on 2010 Burgundy- The 2013 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Deeper, more reserved and serious than the village wine. Blacker fruit, some herbs and great expanding back end acidity. Outstanding potential. (4170 views)
Tasted by xwine on 3/9/2013: La Paulée de New York 2013 Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Lost my notes on the Hudelot-Noellat wines, but a lovely lineup. Tried the Vosne, Vosne Suchots, Clos Vougeot, and Romanee Saint-Vivant. Very classy, and the RSV was stunning. (3713 views)

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio

Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

Vosne Romanée is one of the smallest wine villages in Burgundy The wines possess diverse characteristics, but they can generally considered to have complexity and longevity beyond nearly all other wines in the world. The village has six grand crus: Romanée-Conti, La Romanée, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and La Grande Rue. While there is monopoly control of four of the six grand crus, the village has at least forty growers sharing its vineyards. The top premier cru includes Les Malconsorts, Cros Parantoux, Les Chaumes, and Clos des Réas.
