Tasted by vino_per_tutti on 3/15/2024 & rated 89 points: This bottle took a while to get going. Opened reticent and closed; over the next hour, cherry, black tea, spice on the nose and palate. Seemed long in the tooth at this point. Drink up. (300 views)
Tasted by vino_per_tutti on 2/1/2024 & rated 89 points: Can't say it better than Buckeye: "A rich pinot noir, medium to full bodied, nice texture, well balanced, and a medium to long finish". Full-flavored notes of black cherry, blackberry and cinnamon on the nose and palate. Alcohol level appears to have risen with time, giving it a warmer, slightly sweet tone. Easy drinker. (557 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 12/27/2023 & rated 93 points: Better than the Russian River appellation wine opened last month though still not up to the single vineyards. Medium deep ruby red color. Black raspberries, licorice, earthiness and hints of floral in the nose. Black cherries and black raspberries in the flavor. A rich pinot noir, medium to full bodied, nice texture, well balanced, and a medium to long finish (615 views)
Tasted by Wino from Michigan on 7/9/2023 & rated 91 points: Solid Kosta Brown -- always a good wine and this was easy drinker over 2 nights while watching movies (1264 views)
Tasted by AlexPS on 6/21/2023 & rated 93 points: PnP. Very fine, light sediment. Nose: First open: papaya whiffs. Very nice bouquet 8/10. Cherry, light terpentine(?), rose petal, tea. Palate: 9/10. Medium body. Polished, balanced. Sweetness. After 2 hrs, there's spicy after taste accompanying the sweetness. So good. Finish: 9/10. Price: 9/10 ($75, 2023). Enjoyment: 10/10. Would buy again: Yep.

Starting to really like Kosta Browne Pinot Noirs at 9-10 yrs old. (1128 views)
Tasted by Tim336 on 5/23/2023 & rated 91 points: Not a lot of subtlety about this one, a nice big lip-smacking pinot from KB. Very smooth, with a hint of structure lurking beneath all the dark red fruits and cherry Coke. Terrific alongside chicken cacciatore but would go better with sturdier fare like a pork roast or lamb. (1227 views)
Tasted by Jim B on 4/29/2023 & rated 92 points: Seems like most of these have been actually open up more and better the second day. (1118 views)
Tasted by Barry Notes on 4/28/2023 & rated 93 points: PnP, 15-60 mins glass time. Clear, med purple, no bricking. Nose developed with time. Med Body, not over extracted, cola, black fruit, clean, black cherry, tight upon opening, balanced/integrated nicely, long finish. Nothing off. $71 Winery Direct (1017 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 4/15/2023 & rated 93 points: WIML93

Tasted non blind.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, fairly clear looking. Nose of birch, berries and cherries. Flavors of boysenberries, cherries and raspberries. Medium to tart acidity, resolved tannin, full bodied. Drink now. (957 views)
Tasted by Silkeyj on 3/2/2023 & rated 92 points: Nose is real subtle, light black cherry, hint of chocolate Palate is med plus acid and med plus alcohol, cherry and chocolate right away, balanced perfectly with the tannins, a bit of dust with age in the middle and tart berry to finish. Great mouth feel. A bit over the hill and still phenomenal. (989 views)
Tasted by gamlingman on 1/26/2023 & rated 89 points: Lots going on here very tightly wound with a musty beginning. Once decanted it opened nicely to bright spice and to a big fruity finish. (1213 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 12/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Christmas dinner wine. For a non single vineyard this is one of the best wines I've had in a while. Fresh and fruit driven now but the sweet tannins are there. Amazing! (967 views)

Tasted by DnL Cellars on 11/14/2022 & rated 88 points: Good but light and soft. I feel like there's not many years left to this one. Happy it's our last bottle. If you have multiples definitely pop and pour one (1185 views)
Tasted by JAKE1 on 10/26/2022 & rated 91 points: The wine looks violet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry. It tastes like blueberry. The body is light/medium. The wine has bright texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity. (1350 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 10/16/2022 & rated 94 points: Decanted for 1.5 hours. Aromas of cherry, strawberry, hint of cranberry, earth and mushroom. Flavors of raspberry, cherry, strawberry, pomegranate and currant. All fruit on this and ends with a 35-40 second finish with red berry notes. Still quite young and drinking quite well but I miss my Cola and sarsaparilla though. Those days are gone. (1339 views)
Tasted by Coswinetaster on 9/27/2022 & rated 92 points: Deep ruby. Cherry and some strawberry on the nose. Light to medium mouth feel. Cherry, strawberry, vanilla, and slight spice on the palate. Medium finish with some dark berry and spice. (1316 views)

Similar nose to the RR. I thought this would be lighter but it isn’t. Held its own. More depth and spice. In a great space right now. Delicious (1225 views)

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
