Tasted by WineCenturyAZ on 1/25/2019: Deep ruby in the glass, pronounced aromas and flavors, black fruits lead on the nose with a hint or smoke and spice, palate is dry, black cherry, blackberry, plum, vanilla, chai tea spice notes, cedar, this is a big bold merlot with high tannins, acidity and alcohol. Very nice.

Tasted by tplskylrk on 2/27/2018: P&P through 6 hours this has been really beautiful expression of the fruit, winemaker style and cali dark fruits and dusty valley floors. Punching above its weight. Delicious QPR (1441 views)

Tasted by ashikoh on 12/12/2017: Badly oxidized. Undrinkable. Could wait a bit longer and see if it makes a nice vinegar. (1487 views)
Tasted by ashikoh on 11/20/2017 & rated 87 points: Moderate ruby color. Black cherry, plum, and spice cake on the nose. Soft and round on the palate but with surprising amount of tannin. $23. (821 views)
Tasted by Psdycp on 8/14/2017 & rated 84 points: Soft red fruits and ripe plums with vanilla spice and Christmas fruit cake on the nose. Quite comforting and subtle. Palate is filled with sweet red fruits balanced with white pepper and lifted acidity. The flavors are clean and simple. But the tannins are still quite forward with a touch of green note at the moment, even after an hour in the decanter to allow the wine to breath. Finish could be more flavorful and longer.  Tasted by EMark on 6/8/2017: A lot of berry fruit on entry brings fear of a wimpy fruit bomb. However, then A LOT of tannin tells you this is a grownup’s wine. Nothing earth-shaking, here, but a solid experience for less than $20. (601 views)
Tasted by km5 on 3/30/2017: Very enjoyable with rib eye. Thank you Cadee Dad (764 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
