(6 views)
Tasted by gpunch on 5/26/2024 & rated 88 points: Pop n pour Day 1 to get a taste.
Nose: Flowers, licorice, cherry, wet earth, old wood house.
Palate: Dried raspberry, ripe cherry, licorice, earth. Tannins are very grippy and need some time. Fairly high acidity. Medium body. Will try tomorrow with a fatty piece of beef. (194 views)
Tasted by ChopperWine on 5/2/2024 & rated 90 points: Overall, decent. Classic nebbiolo in aroma and taste. Floral aromas with spice, tar, licorice and sour cherry on the palate. Definitely in acidic wine, but not too overpowering. Tannins are right where they should be. Are there better better barbarescos, of course. Nonetheless, this is definitely a crowd pleaser and great with food. (3471 views)
Tasted by Paul D on 2/18/2024 & rated 89 points: 1 of 2, decanted and immediately served at c14C.
Medium garnet core, pale garnet rim. Thus is fragrant, floral, red cherries, quite spicy - hint of ginger. Medium bodied, red cherry, spice, quite savoury too - soft tannins, fresh/vibrant acids, decent length finish with a burst of pure red fruit. This is very good indeed, and whilst it will certainly keep its very approachable now with no firm edges or sense of being tight or closed. (5845 views)

Tasted by benjamin96 on 2/14/2024 & rated 88 points: Goute en succ, pas lannee la plus fruite… (5066 views)
Tasted by dannykim5588@gmail.com on 2/10/2024: light color like other barbarescos. tasted young, and not ready to drink. The Ovello was smoother (2017). Consider cellaring? preferred the bruno Rocca which tasted sweeter. Purchased for 45 from Mission Wine & Spirits in Glendale. (4969 views)
Tasted by Sinclelz on 1/20/2024 & rated 91 points: Pale ruby. Medium - full bodied. High acidity. Classic nebbiolo flavour of cherries, strawberries, tar and licquorice. Delciously long finish but still very much in its youth. (4585 views)
Tasted by Theamaronefan on 1/6/2024 & rated 91 points: Dark cherry, hint of tar and violets. Medium bodied and well balanced. Nice bottle of wine. (5201 views)
Tasted by henryfriendly on 12/30/2023 & rated 92 points: Nice expression of Barbaresco. Quite floral nose, but with cherry, spice, and asphalt in there. Acidity and tannin are in balance despite the youth of the wine, though some of that could be because I decanted for 6 hours before serving. Maybe a bit overripe on the palate, but I’m nitpicking. Will surely improve over the next 5 years or so but I agree with others that this isn’t going to be the longest lived Produttori ever. (4353 views)
Tasted by DFBW on 12/25/2023 & rated 90 points: Drank over many days of Christmas from a 3L - lasted well and everyone enjoyed. (3900 views)
Tasted by BoireBio on 12/25/2023: 16/20
Reflets orangés, moyen/pâle. Nez suave.
La bouche est agréable avec des notes de pepsi flat tout en nuance et en équilibre avec le fruit et le bois.
Facture élégante avec une belle texture de velours qui plait.
J’aime cépage…
Le 15% passe plutôt bien…. (3789 views)
Tasted by Carlo.Housen on 12/18/2023 & rated 92 points: Fruit forward, mouthwatering acidity and grippy (soft) tannins .
What a joy

Tasted by 831900_ on 12/9/2023 & rated 89 points: Dark cherry on the nose that turns to raspberry in the mouth. Wood notes super present, chilled out a lot with decanting. Much better on day two, still lovely on day three. A perfect pizza wine if you have really good pizza. Also a good value. (5235 views)
Tasted by DevenStephens on 12/6/2023 & rated 93 points: Same notes as before. Very enjoyable, great with food. Haven't touched my 2019s yet (6005 views)
Tasted by TheClemence on 12/1/2023 & rated 93 points: Al naso gradevoli profumi di media profondità di frutti rossi, fiori e spezie appena accennati. (4975 views)
Tasted by danchaq on 11/18/2023 & rated 91 points: Four hours in a decanter. Clear bright deep fruit with a sort of menthol note at the end. Just lovely. (5007 views)
Tasted by thomaslangberg on 10/21/2023 & rated 93 points: Beautiful! (5896 views)
Tasted by Motz on 10/12/2023 & rated 91 points: On the ripe side of the style (fruity and hot), while also somewhat light (maybe even a touch thin)...a fairly strange combination.

Loud, red fruit and berry-driven perfume, with rhubarb, herbal teas, and rose hip accents. Alcohol shows through too.

Delicious throughout...if slightly disjointed. The ripeness and lightness, along with a fairly abrupt finish, do not seem to align. My best guess as to the cause is an admixture of ripe and underripe fruit...or, perhaps, young vine fruit.

Anyway, technically excellent...even with the listed 15 abv (yikes)...but generally not quite the equal of other vintages. I would not hold bottles beyond 2030-2033. 91-92. (5975 views)
Tasted by Canadales on 10/1/2023 & rated 94 points: You can't go wrong with the produttori wines it seems. This one was a unanimous favourite of 6 bottles on a tasting night (mostly Bordeaux). Brilliant nebbiolo with enough depth to be a crowd pleaser. (5294 views)
Tasted by Bolognese Diner on 9/25/2023 & rated 91 points: One of the "readiest" vintages, but Produttori are always a guarantee. You can sense that the fruit is plumper and riper, but the acidity and finesse have been preserved and serve to keep the wine balanced, with the tannins still a bit rough. I would recommend waiting at least another 3/4 years.

(5808 views)
Tasted by Kcid on 9/22/2023 & rated 92 points: A lot of earth, raspberry, and anise on the nose.

Palate is raspberry, tar, violet. About an hour in, more framboise coming through as well. Maybe raspberry jam.

Tannins are well integrated. Will likely develop into a delicious wine, but it’s very good, even now. (5013 views)
Tasted by Jason Wu on 9/16/2023 & rated 92 points: Fresh juicy cherry, strawberry candy, mocha, red roses, subtle cinnamon, mint, forest after the rain, sweet spices.
High acidity, the tannins are high but feel quite smooth at such young age, possibly balanced by its 15% high alcohol and fresh seducing red fruits. Well made wine, consistent quality even in challenging vintage. The alcohol may be intimidating and definitely can feel the burn on the palate. However, it’s very drinkable at youth and can certain keep for quite a few years but may not last as long as 15,16 or 17. (4767 views)
Tasted by wineton.mee on 9/5/2023 & rated 92 points: Lovely floral and roses, tar and ripe strawberries. Refined but present tannins and a very mineral finish. A little edgy maybe but adds to the rusticity (5551 views)
Tasted by Barolo Freak on 9/3/2023 & rated 92 points: My first time tasting a Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco, and certainly not my last. I decanted, and I let it breathe for several hours. I served it with a multi course dinner consisting of Italian Sausage, Hanger Steaks, and grilled Salmon. The color is ruby and the nose is very fragrant. There were multiple tasters at the table and they all liked the Barbaresco very much. I plan to purchase more bottles and put them away. Five years of cellaring should do it. Is it worth $43 a bottle? Si Signora! (4999 views)

Produttori del Barbaresco

O ok just

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco

Producer
Prior to 1894, Nebbiolo grapes were sold to make Barolo wine or simply labeled ”Nebbiolo di Barbaresco”. But in 1894, Domizio Cavazza, headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba and a Barbaresco resident, created the first cooperative, the ”Cantine Sociali”, by gathering together nine Barbaresco vineyard owners to make wine in the local castle that he owned. Cavazza understood that there were differences between Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Barolo district versus the same grapes grown in the Barbaresco district and, for the first time, recognized it on the wine label. The ”Cantine Sociali” was forced to close in the 1920’S because of fascist economic rules. In 1958, the priest of the village of Barbaresco, recognizing that the only way the small properties could survive was by joining their efforts, gathered together nineteen small growers and founded the Produttori del Barbaresco. The first three vintages were made in the church basement, and then in the winery built across the square from where the Produttori is still located. United once again, the small growers continued the work started by Domizio Cavazza, producing only Barbaresco wine and enhancing both the reputation of the wine and the village. The proud past of Barbaresco and the dedication of its creators have made the Produttori one of the greatest producers in a great wine-producing area; it... ”continues to set some of the highest standards of wine making for any cooperative in the world”. (Robert M. Parker, Jr.; The Wine Advocate, 2-28-90). The Produttori del Barbaresco, founded in 1958, now has 56 members and 100 hectares (250 acres) of Nebbiolo vineyards in the Barbaresco appellation, which amounts to almost 1/6 of the vineyards of the area. Each family is in full control of its land, growing Nebbiolo grapes with centuries old skill and dedication. The winery produces a Barbaresco D.O.C.G., a blend of Nebbiolo grapes harvested from different vineyards, and a simpler Nebbiolo Langhe suited for earlier consumption. In great vintages, nine single-vineyard Barbarescos are produced from nine classic premium sites within the Barbaresco village boundaries: Asili, Rabaja, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Paje, Montefico, Moccagatta and Rio Sordo. These are the geographical names of sites where Nebbiolo grapes have always been cultivated. The names of the single-vineyards, the total number of bottles produced, and the name of the owners of the vineyards are marked on the labels. The Produttori del Barbaresco, which vinifies only Nebbiolo grapes, produces around 420,000 bottles (35,000 cases) per year. In a good vintage they are divided among Barbaresco (40%), single vineyard Barbarescos (40%) and Nebbiolo Langhe (20%). Produttori del Barbaresco s.a.c.

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is a red grape indigenous to the Piedmont region of Italy in the Northwest. The grape can also be found in other parts of the world, though they are not as respected.

Nebbiolo is often considered the "king of red wines," as it is the grape of the famed wines of Barolo DOCG, Barbaresco DOCG, and Roero DOCG. It is known for high tannins and acidity, but with a distinct finesse. When grown on clay, Nebbiolo can be very powerful, tannic, and require long aging periods to reach its full potential. When grown on sand, the grape exhibits a more approachable body with more elegant fruit and less tannins, but still has high aging potential.

"Nebbiolo" is named for the Italian word, "nebbia", which means "fog", in Italian and rightfully so since there is generally a lot of fog in the foothills of Piedmont during harvest.

Nebbiolo is a late-ripening variety that does best in a continental climate that boasts moderate summers and long autumns. In Piedmont, Nebbiolo is normally harvested in October.
