MSUwine nailed the notes. My first of four bottles that I bought from Dan. Another great white wine from Massican. Dan truly is a wizard at his craft. His ability to create great wines over and over again no matter the vintage is impressive. (147 views) | | Tasted by hutch on 7/26/2022 & rated 88 points: This is fun. I do not think it fits the bill of a $35 or whatever bottle. I find it pleasant, with nice fruit. Good acidity and balance. I would be into this at $20. (357 views) | | Tasted by msuwine on 10/7/2021 & rated 93 points: This original and refreshing Pinot Grigio blend is everything I ever want from Massican - unique, tasty, and affordable. Light yellow in color; medium in body; aromas of gooseberry, fresh pear, and white flowers. If the aromas are somewhat muted, the flavors are more alive, with notes of Meyer lemon, lime, and saline, with a viscous but lively finish. Blend of 69% Pinot Grigio and 31% Greco (dunno about the latter varietal, but it tastes damn good!). 12.4% alcohol. Drink in next few years. Extra point for being well-made + well-priced + original... i.e., let's hear it for small miracles. Lemon and minerals with wonderful acidity. One of my favorite Pinot Gris based blends out there. (576 views) | | Tasted by quaffnov on 8/2/2020 & rated 91 points: Racy acidity and chalk lead through this lemon driven blend that puckers the mouth pleasantly and lingers on the tongue longer than the usual pinot grigio blend usually leads to. (646 views) | | Tasted by R2-D2 on 7/15/2020 & rated 92 points: An exciting, racy, intensely concentrated wine. (691 views) | | Tasted by MTC2 on 5/6/2020 & rated 92 points: Same tasting notes as previous.
It’s 93* today, and this is my wine of choice when the heat rolls in. (648 views) | | Tasted by jcha24 on 4/1/2020: Dan produces another great wine. Automatic order every vintage. California sunshine made in an old world style. (802 views) | | Tasted by yaki on 11/11/2019 & rated 91 points: Clear, pale straw color in the glass. Moderate aromas of green apple, orange blossom, green olive and limestone. The palate is off-dry, with more tart green apple, nettle and slate. Very high acidity creates a refreshing counter-balance to the (relatively) low alcohol. Finishes at medium-plus length. (784 views) | | Tasted by BadOyster on 9/24/2019 & rated 92 points: Classy crystalline gemina with tart finish. Best gemina yet. (841 views) | | Tasted by R2-D2 on 8/16/2019 & rated 93 points: Similar to the 2018 Annia but with a touch of mustiness in the nose. Salty minerals, citrusy and spritzy. More fruit forward with the ripe fruit than Annia and not quite as lingering. Very delicious and ready to drink. And easy to drink. (634 views) | | Tasted by MTC2 on 7/31/2019 & rated 92 points: Love this wine. While the nose is understated, lemon, melon, herbs and tons of minerality on the palate. Finishes with bracing minerality and high acid. Just a perfect Summer wine. Even better than the 2017. Went great with broiled Mahi Mahi. (621 views) | | Tasted by huevosconvino on 7/27/2019 & rated 91 points: Very fruity and acidic at first, quickly opens up (delicious with Kalamata olives) into a vibrant, delicious summer wine. Citrus and melon and a little bit of a wild side from the Greco grapes, I assume. Very nice chilled. (631 views) | | Tasted by GrapeCrusader on 7/18/2019 & rated 90 points: Lovely and vibrant green-yellow color. Weighty, but fresh and uplifting wine. White flowers, citrus, lemon verbena and tart apples on the palate. Nose was a little subdued, but echoed some of the flavors on the palate. Like this wine a lot. Super clean and tasty. (551 views) | | Tasted by RoyaltyCoins on 7/4/2019 & rated 91 points: Pale Straw
Nose: Honeysuckle, white flower, citrus zest
Mouth: White pear and lightly sweet pineapple glide through on a succulent frame alongside a nice note of light green apple and lime. Finish lingers on that lime with a solid grated ginger note and hint of lees spice, but keeps fresh and zesty throughout.
Overall: Clean and fresh, with some good balance in the floral/citrus notes. The finish lingers surprisingly, and with a bit of time and air it becomes very juicy. Serve it just a bit warmer than you'd think.

| Massican Producer websiteWhite Blend"White blend" means the wine is made from a blend of two or more different white varieties - or in some cases a blend of pink or red varieties that are vinified white, ie. without any skin contact. A blend of Antao, Arinto, Rouperio. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson CaliforniaNapa Valley.http://www.stagecoachvineyard.com/vineyards/our_vineyards.php Santa Ynez.http://www.everyvine.com/org/Camp_Four/vineyard/Camp_Four/ |
