Tasted by Neecies on 11/10/2021 & rated 94 points: Full throttle sauv blanc with big flavors of tarragon, lemongrass and asparagus. At five years old, this is prime drinking zone. (1313 views)
Tasted by Thomas D on 10/9/2021 & rated 85 points: Pale color:restrained nose of citrus and grass. Acidity pronounced despite addition of semillon. Not much flavor bordering on austere. Disappointing. (1308 views)
Tasted by cupoverflowing1 on 12/13/2019 & rated 92 points: like previous vintage, always great, but a bit young (1579 views)
Tasted by msuwine on 9/18/2019 & rated 94 points: This rich but grassy Sauvignon Blanc might need another six months to reach its peak, but it's a compelling - and tasty - combination of bright and round flavors. Light yellow, almost silver in color; medium in body; nose of wet grass, green apple, gooseberry, and ocean air. Tastes of grapefruit, lemon meringue, gooseberry, pear, and quartz, with a zippy finish that is rounded out by the 7% Sémillon. 14.5% alcohol. 93-94 for now. (2904 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
