The nose is loaded with bacon fat and spicy fruit. While on the palate there is still fresh fruit, tar, and smoked meat. The finish is a little short, but did lengthen some after a couple hours and has nice spices, cherries, and the acidity to keep it clean. For a wine intended to be consumed young this is holding up very nicely and is a pure pleasure to drink. 88 points (2443 views) | | Tasted by GEvans on 1/19/2010 & rated 90 points: Excellent taste - rich and fruity. Some heat on the finish. (3310 views) | | Tasted by DesMarteau on 3/17/2009 & rated 86 points: good concentration, vibrancy, and tannins....but a few vegetal flavors here and there add a bit of funk. (2788 views) | | Tasted by DrGibby on 3/1/2008 & rated 89 points: Very nice bottle. Very smooth, well-integrated tannins. As someone else noted, good combo of acidity and fruit. Others have complained of short finish. I didn't have the same experience as others.... Long aftertaste. (1426 views) | | Tasted by NickG on 12/16/2007: Nice berry, cassis, and spice flavors. Good acidity modest tannins, and a reasonable 12.5% alcohol. Very good, but short finish detracts. (1549 views) | | Tasted by GlenD on 4/11/2007: Good acidity. Would buy again. (1926 views) | | Tasted by Gulelin on 3/23/2006 & rated 85 points: Dark red hue. Light, fruity aroma. Light body. Notes from journal. (1582 views) | | Tasted by jakob.krummenacher@gmail.com on 10/30/2005 & rated 87 points: Dark purple color with a blueish rim. Dark berries with hints of barnyard on the nose. Reminiscent of a Southern Rhone red. Medium body. Nice balance of acidity and fruit. Straight forward, simple and with a short aftertaste. Drink 2005-07. (2547 views) | | Tasted by robs_r on 2/25/2005: Dinner with CS: After the Rhone monsters, this was kind of difficult to taste. Cool and lean with good acidity, should be a very nice food wine in two years. I liked it very much. (3365 views) |

About Quinta do Crasto Located in the heart of the Douro Valley, on the right bank of the river mid-way between Regua and Pinhao, Quinta do Crasto has been in the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for over a century. Nestled on a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta do Crasto dates back to ancient times. The name Crasto is derived from the Latin word "castrum," or Roman fort. With its commanding unobstructed view of the river, it is not difficult to imagine why the Romans would choose to occupy such a strategic site. Quinta do Crasto produces different styles of port and table wines each year. Together with their winemakers and their entire team, they seek to produce year after year wines that display the unique and beautiful characteristics of the Douro, through a tireless devotion to tradition, integrity and excellence.Red Blend.Portugal ViniPortugal (Associação Interprofissional para a Promoção dos Vinhos Portugueses/Portuguese Wine Trade Association)Douro Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e PortoDouro Port's Not So Sweet Cousin, By Eric Asimov.
