| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by wilypod on 2/13/2024 & rated 93 points: Such a beautiful and balanced Rhone blend with youthful, saturated blue and red berry fruits. Drinks well on PnP but benefits from more air. Combines the sheer freshness of the 2017 TCV Cotes de Tablas with the extra focus and depth of the 2014 Cotes. The Grenache-driven character is fresh, not jammy, tasting more of Pinot Noir's Morello cherry and cinnamon spice than the variety's more typical strawberry and pepper expression. Syrah, Mourvedre, and Counoise moderate the alcohol and add savory and spice notes (and in my opinion elevate the 2021 Cotes over the equally beautiful 2021 TCV Grenache).
An example of how a humble southern Rhone blend, and this is one from California, can deliver at the level of the best of Burgundy or the North Rhone. 92-94 (698 views) | | Tasted by drwine2001 on 8/30/2023: Paso Robles Winery Visits; 8/30/2023-9/1/2023: Dull light ruby. Light to medium weight. Slightly herbaceous, gentle ripe but not sweet fruit, good soil texture, moderate tannins. Needs a bit more time. (1384 views) | | Tasted by BobMilton on 8/28/2023 & rated 91 points: Nice Rhone red - dark fruit, complex (637 views) | | Tasted by tward on 7/14/2023: Reds Tasting at Tablas Creek (Paso Robles) (Tablas Creek Winery): Excellent. Drinking so well already! All varietals on display in order of share. Zest, bright up front with black fruits, plum, and kirsch. Give this time to unwind and get some air. Age some bottles.

| Tablas Creek Producer website Tablas Creek Vineyard, founded by the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel and Robert Haas of Vineyard Brands, is dedicated to growing grape varieties traditional to France's Rhone Valley. The partners chose hilly western Paso Robles for its limestone soils, rugged terrain, and ocean influence. All Tablas Creek wines are estate grown using environmentally sustainable practices.Red Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
