Tasted by wtianseter on 3/12/2014 & rated 86 points: Still tasting fine as it has aged; buy Apothic on sale , store it properly and it has at least 4 years bottle life (9521 views)
Tasted by Flemlord on 2/15/2014: Fruity and acidic. No finish. Not great. Drank several years past its prime. (9083 views)
Tasted by Soche on 8/9/2013 & rated 83 points: Muted leather on the nose. Jammy cherry and strawberry on the palate. Syrupy texture with a lingering bitterness. Dont drink, just Use for sangria (10843 views)
Tasted by fcupero on 6/20/2013: smooth inexpensive wine good for everyday drinking (11031 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 1/9/2013 & rated 86 points: This bottle was consistent with my past tasting notes. 2009 continues to drink well (6415 views)
Tasted by jaybird1234 on 1/5/2013 & rated 88 points: Great everyday wine for the price. Smooth with great fruit. (4554 views)
Tasted by Mtpisgah on 12/28/2012 & rated 75 points: I arrived home and noticed the cellar light on. I asked my wife what she had opened and she said "you may not like it". I smelled it and said "it smells off". Then I tasted it and said "it tastes off". Then I saw the bottle on the counter and started laughing. I am so glad we don't have anymore of this horrendous swill left. I opened a bottle of something decent (4545 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 12/14/2012 & rated 87 points: Consistent with my previous tasting notes. Chocolate, Sweet cherries and tons of fruit. Good balance and flavor in multiple layers. Long lasting sweet finish. (2942 views)
Tasted by Beckhams on 12/1/2012 & rated 83 points: Always a solid blend. A nice table wine that will satisfy any red leaning crowd. (3333 views)
Tasted by yorknh on 10/7/2012 & rated 85 points: Very jammy with lots of red berries, vanilla, cocoa. The tannins have a bit of the Cabernet bitter finish. Wife loves it, but the more we drink it the more it strikes me as almost a dessert wine. It is sweet and kind of heavy. (3187 views)
Tasted by nealkb on 10/7/2012 & rated 84 points: Let it sit in my cellar for a year. Tastes really pleasant and smooth at first pour. Good every day wine. Tastes develops as time goes. Good hints of vanilla. Paired with spaghetti turkey meatballs and stuffed bellpeppers very well. (2789 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 10/7/2012 & rated 86 points: Consistent with my past tasting notes (2747 views)
Tasted by Nbkl589 on 7/17/2012 & rated 92 points: My favorite!! (3144 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 7/11/2012 & rated 83 points: Another bottle without the complexity that I have tasted in the vast majority of bottles. Still a good wine and it went well with bbq pork with a sweet tomato based sauce. (2991 views)
Tasted by cardinalfanrc on 6/22/2012 & rated 90 points: Syrah, zin, merlot blend. Awesome, semi-big table wine. Buy again! (3314 views)
Tasted by Mtpisgah on 6/6/2012 & rated 84 points: Too candy like. Lacks depth and no follow through. (3529 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 5/22/2012 & rated 84 points: This bottle was not up to the normal standard .. It seemed rather one-dimensional and had an ending bit that was not normal to my experience. Still a good wine but not up to its past standards (3468 views)
Tasted by Melster10 on 3/18/2012 & rated 91 points: I don't know why this is rated so low, it is delicious, from it's aroma to first sip to finish. So smooth and satisfying, even if it's not very complex. (4431 views)
Tasted by Grumbling_Goat on 3/3/2012 & rated 84 points: Very sweet. Rich in cherries. Drinks well with a hamburger, and would be (as many note) a big hit with non-wine drinkers. Decent for $8 - $10. (4739 views)
Tasted by Zach_palmer on 2/23/2012: Very sweet (5010 views)
Tasted by Backdoctor on 2/22/2012 & rated 89 points: what a nice wine to enjoy on a Wednesday after a busy week. Fruit forward, enjoyable. Perfect with our hamburger then cheesecake. Great QPR (4839 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 2/13/2012 & rated 89 points: The 2009 is a wine that improved a great value wine to a fantastic value wine. I have tasted about 2 dozen bottles and all but one have been very consistent --- thats pretty good --- a 5% ratio of off-bottles is surprising for a value wine. Don't be afraid to set a few bottles away to give it some time in your cellar -- it develops much more complexity if it is set aside for a year -plus or minus. Can't say what happens with longer bottle aging -- My wife finds them in the back of my cellar and drinks them.
Nose is fruity and full leading with the Merlot nose, with a slight hint of oak hidden in the background. The taste is fruit forward showing off the Syrah with a mouth full of chocolate and cherries. The mouth is full and surprisingly complex for a wine of this price. The winemakers adeptly use the residual sugar to hide its minor flaws; its a bit sweeter than I would like it to be but that is what makes it so desirable to so many. This wine is almost always the favorite of non vinofiles that we party with. It is always a pleasure to drink -- it just simply tastes good and goes down way too easily! (4910 views)
Tasted by rfayepowers on 2/4/2012 & rated 85 points: Very big- dark berry flavors, cherry in particular. (4897 views)
Tasted by Ex-Ray on 1/28/2012 & rated 93 points: Presented at our Couples Cru tasting, 15 experienced wine drinkers who have been meeting for 15 years and all have much longer experience with wine. Of 8 wines served completely blind, this and Runquist's "R" Petite Sirah were the favorites, over Penfold's Grange, Mollydooker Velvet Glove, Carnival of Love and Blue-Eyed Boy; Cayuse's En Cailloux, and Clarendon Hills Piggott Range, all chosen for peak drinkability. We were first notified of this wine when Parker "stopped the presses" to make special note of this Sonoma blend in his Napa report a couple of years ago. We agree: for excellent wine in the glass at incredible pricing, this is outstanding. The 2010 came out recently and we picked up 5 cases at $8 per bottle. (5254 views)
Tasted by W2WineGuy on 1/24/2012 & rated 80 points: Very simple wine, no body or structure, fruit that is a bit sweet, no length, just a "blah" wine (5081 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
